Your New Role
This is a fantastic opportunity for a Graduate or early career Mechanical Engineer or someone with 1 to 3 years of industry experience looking to grow their career.
Initially, the role will be heavily hands-on, supporting maintenance, servicing, testing, and refurbishment activities on complex mechanical equipment. Approximately 90% of your first year will involve practical workshop and field-based engineering activities,
providing invaluable exposure rarely available in traditional graduate roles. Subsequent to this, you will develop and grow onto new & growing defence projects, where you will segway into areas such as Mechanical Design.
Key responsibilities include
- Supporting the maintenance and testing of critical mechanical equipment.
- Conducting workshop-based diagnostics and fault-finding activities.
- Assisting with on-site servicing and maintenance activities.
- Interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, and standards.
- Supporting engineering reviews, technical documentation, and compliance activities.
- Working closely with senior engineers and technical specialists to solve complex engineering challenges.
- Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives and process optimisation.
- Developing towards increased involvement in engineering design, customer projects, and technical engineering activities as the business continues to grow.
This is an ideal role for someone who enjoys being hands-on, solving problems, and seeing engineering outcomes come to life in a real operational environment. What You'll Need to Succeed To be successful, you will bring:
- Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering or Mechatronics Engineering.
- Graduate level experience or up to 3 years within engineering, maintenance, manufacturing, defence, marine, heavy industry.
- Hands-on prior experience - such as on Naval Vessels.
- Confidence interpreting engineering standards, technical drawings, and specifications.
- Hands-on mechanical aptitude with a genuine interest in equipment repair, maintenance, and reliability.
- Robust attention to detail and commitment to quality outcomes.
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
- Desire to learn and develop into a broader engineering career.
Highly regarded experience includes:
- Defence, maritime, naval, marine, shipbuilding, sustainment, or heavy industrial environments.
- Experience servicing, maintaining, repairing of mechanical systems.
- Experience working on vessels or within maintenance and sustainment operations.
Eligibility requirements:
- Australian Citizenship is essential.
- Baseline or NV1 Security Clearance is highly regarded.
- Applicants must be eligible to work on regulated defence-related programs and not be subject to ITAR export control restrictions.
