Who are Batchfire Resources

At Batchfire Resources, we own and operate the historic Callide Mine in Central Queensland – a site that’s powered industries and communities since 1944. Located just outside the friendly town of Biloela (20km northeast), and 120km from Gladstone, we produce high-quality coal for both domestic and export markets.

About the Role The Mining Engineer role partners with the business to support the productive development and delivery of short-term mine designs and weekly plans. The role focuses on continuous improvement, particularly in translating medium-term mine designs into practical, executable short-term operational plans.

Reporting to the Mine Planning Superintendent and working as part of a small, competent Technical Services team, the key responsibilities are:

- Champion a safety-first culture by managing risks and hazards, conducting safety interactions, reporting incidents and supporting investigations.
- Foster teamwork and collaboration across departments, ensuring decisions support overall business outcomes.
- Develop and implement short-term mine designs, including T&E;, DL, drill & blast, strip progression, haul roads, dumps, dozer/bulk push and Permit to Disturb requirements.
- Support medium-term mine planning and forecasting to ensure alignment between short- and long-term mine plans.
- Maintain short-term designs for the upcoming 28-day cycle,



including geotechnical reviews and coordination with key operational teams.
- Develop, maintain and communicate the weekly mine plan, providing support to short term forecasting processes schedules, production rates, priorities, face positions and reserve depletion.
- Coordinate mining activities and operational priorities, including haulage, roads and intersections, dumping, dewatering, topsoil and other ancillary activities.

This is a permanent fulltime position offered as residential, DIDO or FIFO. Roster is 5/2 with the option of possible flexibility. About you The successful candidate will have:

- Minimum 3 years’ experience in open cut coal operations
- Exceptional stakeholder relationship skills
- Proficiency in mine design software in Deswik or similar
- Mine optimisation experience
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Degree in Engineering or equivalent
- Current Class Driver's License
- Dragline experience is highly desirable.
