This is an exciting opportunity to join SMS Mining Services at an key stage of our growth as we expand into the contract mining industry. With multiple new clients and sites secured, our operations are continuing to grow, creating a range of new opportunities across the business. As we build and strengthen our head office team, we are looking for experienced and capable people to help support, coordinate and oversee these expanding operations.

This is a chance to be part of a growing team and play a key role in supporting the successful delivery of our new and existing projects.

We are seeking an experienced Mining Estimator to join our growing team at our High Wycombe head office. In this role, you will play a key part in supporting our expanding mining operations by preparing detailed, accurate and commercially focused cost estimates for a range of mining projects and operations.

Your duties and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

- Analyse mine plans, scopes of work, drawings, specifications and quantities.
- Estimate labour, equipment, materials, subcontractor and operating costs.
- Prepare budgets, tenders, quotations and cost breakdowns.
- Monitor actual costs against estimates and investigate variances.
- Work closely with mining engineers, project managers, accountant teams and site personnel.
- Assist with project scheduling, forecasting and financial reporting.
- Identify cost risks, assumptions and potential savings.
- Ensure estimates comply with company procedures and contractual requirements.

What We’re Looking For

- Bachelor of Engineering (Mining) or equivalent.
- Minimum of five years of demonstrated experience in the mining, construction, engineering or heavy industry estimating.
- Strong understanding of mining operations, plant, equipment and production activities.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, mine plans and scopes of work.
- Strong Excel and estimating, cost-control skills.
- Knowledge of mining software, such as Surpac, or similar systems, is essential.
- Strong analytical, numerical and communication skills.
