Position overview The NSW Marketing and Operations Coordinator oversees communications, campaign promotion, community management and day-to-day administrative workflows for No More Butts’ litter prevention operations in New South Wales. This role ensures consistent brand messaging, manages digital outreach channels, community engagement and supports internal administrative efficiency.
Employment status
Part-time 2 days (0.4 FTE) per week. Fixed term contract until September 30, 2029, with the possibility of extension. Consideration will be given to a contractor model.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and execute targeted marketing and communications campaigns across digital platforms to promote NSW project milestones and citizen science activations.
- Draft, edit, and publish engaging content including social media assets, newsletters, media releases, and website updates.
- Manage administrative workflows, maintain organizational databases, and coordinate internal communication channels.
- Support the NSW Program Manager and NSW Litter Prevention Project Coordinator with reporting, scheduling, and logistical preparation for public events.
- Monitor engagement metrics and evaluate the effectiveness of public-facing awareness campaigns.
- Support development of a collaborative knowledge-sharing community of practice where partners can exchange ideas, new interventions, and co-develop scalable solutions.
- Support development of a changemaker collective - membership model with exclusive access to resources, events, and networking opportunities, while also offering support for on-the-ground issues and solutions, empowering our changemakers to act.
- Development of an Ambassador Program – Identify, help recruit, train and activate high-profile advocates, industry leaders, and grassroots champions to amplify NMB’s mission in NSW.
Required qualifications and experience
- Proven experience in digital marketing, communications, or nonprofit administration.
- Proficiency in content creation tools, social media management platforms, and office productivity software.
- Strong analytical and reporting skills, with the ability to develop strategies for complex environmental challenges.
- Demonstrated expertise in community engagement and stakeholder collaboration, particularly with residents, businesses, and local organisations.
- Experience managing grant-funded projects, including applications, reporting, and compliance.
- Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) with experience preparing reports, correspondence, and educational materials.
- Highly developed organisational and time management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
Desirable experience
- Effective problem-solving, decision-making, and interpersonal skills.
- Experience working within a local government or regulatory workplace.
- Familiarity with the NSW Litter Prevention Strategy and EPA reporting frameworks.
- Knowledge of behavioural change principles in environmental education and community engagement.
- Experience in using GIS, CRM systems, or digital tools for monitoring litter hotspots and mapping community engagement.
- Experience working with culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) communities to deliver inclusive and accessible programs.
- Experience facilitating community events, workshops, or volunteer programs focused on sustainability or waste reduction.
- Ability to influence and negotiate with a wide range of stakeholders to achieve collaborative environmental outcomes.
- Skills in creative campaign development, including social media, for public education.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
Including but not limited to:
- Campaign Execution: Deliver a minimum of two major multi-channel public awareness campaigns per year targeting tobacco product litter and waste across New South Wales.
- Digital Output: Maintain a consistent publishing schedule across social media channels and issue a monthly stakeholder newsletter highlighting project milestones.
- Community engagement: Successfully delivering community membership development and engagement metrics.
- Media Engagement: Draft and distribute targeted media releases for key NSW project sites, driving press coverage and public participation and engagement.
- Collateral Production: Design, produce, and distribute educational and promotional collateral (digital and print assets) for community workshops, council briefings, and on-ground activations.
- Operational Reporting: Compile monthly marketing and digital engagement analytics reports to evaluate campaign reach, audience growth, and conversion metrics against project targets.
