NSW Security Trainer/Assessor – Parramatta (Full-time or Casual)
Asset College is seeking experienced and passionate security professionals to join our NSW training team as Security Trainers/Assessors. Based at our Parramatta Campus, this role includes delivering high-quality security training and assessment and may involve travel to regional NSW to support scheduled courses and industry demand. We offer both full time and casual engagement arrangements depending on operational requirements and individual circumstances.
In this role, you will deliver a range of NSW security licence courses and nationally recognised qualifications, ensuring students receive practical, engaging and compliant training. You will also support assessment activities, maintain training resources, and contribute to the ongoing quality and currency of our programs.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver and assess NSW SLED-approved security licensing courses, including: Class 1A – Security Officer and Crowd Controller
Class 1B – Bodyguard
Class 1C – Cash-in-Transit
Class 1F – Armed Guard
- Deliver additional security qualifications and skill sets, including Certificate II in Transport Security Protection, Certificate III in Security Operations, Certificate III in Close Protection Operations, Batons and Handcuffs, and associated programs, depending on qualifications, licence functions and vocational currency.
- Facilitate engaging, student-centred learning experiences in both classroom and practical environments.
- Conduct assessments in line with SLED requirements, training package standards and RTO compliance obligations.
- Provide constructive learner support, coaching and practical guidance throughout training and assessment.
- Maintain current industry knowledge and contribute to continuous improvement of training programs.
- Complete training documentation, assessment records and administrative tasks accurately and on time.
- Travel to regional NSW locations as required to support delivery.
Required Skills, Qualifications and Experience
- A Training and Assessment qualification that meets the requirements of the current Standards for RTOs (TAE40122 preferred).
- Current NSW Security Licences including:
- Class 1A – Security Officer and Crowd Controller
- Class 1B – Bodyguard (desirable but not mandatory)
- Class 1C – Cash-in-Transit (desirable but not mandatory)
- Class 1F – Armed Guard (desirable but not mandatory)
- Class 2D – Security Trainer
- Minimum 3–5 years security industry experience, demonstrating strong vocational expertise suitable for delivering and assessing the listed security licence functions.
- Vocational currency relevant to the courses being delivered.
- Current First Aid Certificate (Advanced First Aid desirable).
- Working With Children Check (WWCC) – must be obtained prior to engagement.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work with diverse learners.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage training schedules, records and compliance requirements.
Desirable Attributes
- Existing SLED Trainer Approval (highly desirable).
- Applicants without current approval should allow up to three months for approval processing before commencing as a trainer/assessor.
- Prior experience delivering security training or assessing vocational qualifications.
- Confidence delivering both theoretical and practical components of security training.
- Commitment to continuous improvement and maintaining industry relevance.
