We are an independent, co-educational, non-denominational Foundation to Year 12 school located in Caroline Springs, Victoria. We welcome applications from graduate and experienced drama teachers to join our Primary Years teaching team. This ongoing position will commence in Term 1, 2027 and is offered at 0.4 FTE.
As this is a new role at Southern Cross Grammar, the successful candidate will have a unique opportunity to shape and establish the Primary Drama program. Working collaboratively with colleagues and school leaders, they will develop an engaging and contemporary program that builds students’ confidence, creativity, communication skills and appreciation of the performing arts.
Key aspects of the position:
- Shape and develop a high-quality Primary Drama program establishing a strong foundation for its future growth.
- Demonstrate expertise in applying evidence-based pedagogy, integrating insights from cognitive science (including cognitive load theory, attention theory, and the science of learning) in a culture of high performance and innovative teaching practice across the Primary school year levels
- Ensure that a sound knowledge of emerging trends in educational theory, learning theory, learning technology,
student achievement, assessment and methodologies underpins all learning and teaching across programs
- Capacity to work collaboratively with colleagues to develop programs and initiatives that support the academic growth of each student and create opportunities for quality learning experiences
- Be an effective communicator with the ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with students, parents and staff
- Know your students – understanding a student’s physical, psychological and emotional developmental stages from an evidence-based perspective
- Promote a safe, inclusive, and restorative environment where student achievements are celebrated, learning dispositions are fostered, and every child feels valued and connected.
