About The Position The Plant Operator undertakes operational activities associated with the provision of road infrastructure services to the City of Greater Geraldton, working under direction to ensure all work is carried out within agreed programs and budget constraints and in compliance with all relevant state and federal regulations, City policies, procedures and relevant Australian standards.

Key Accountabilities

- Participate in hazard identification and controls through the development of specific JHA and ensuring team accountability. Promote safe work practices and environment through leading by example.
- Construct and maintain unsealed roads and shoulders within the City’s network.
- General operation of plant and hand tools, carry out maintenance and/or labour duties as required.
- Operate plant and specialised road maintenance equipment in a competent and safe manner including rollers, loaders, trucks, graders, bobcats, excavators and other machinery as required.
- Ensure that regular routine daily maintenance is carried out and that relevant log books and pre-start are completed.

Position Requirements The successful applicant will hold an HC licence and have demonstrated experience in the safe use of plant and equipment associated with road construction including rollers, loaders, graders, bobcats and excavators.

Completion of a pre-employment medical including alcohol and other substances testing is required of all positions at the City.

Remuneration And Benefits The Plant Operator position has a salary starting from $79,115 per annum or $40.04 per hour, offered dependent on knowledge, skills, experience and qualifications.

i. Please list your Driver’s Licence class and expiry ii. Please rate your level of competency operating the following plant – loader, roller, grader, bobcat, excavator between Nil, Basic, Intermediate or Advanced and provide an example or reason for selected rating iii. Demonstrated experience in road construction and maintenance techniques and procedures iv. Experience working as part of a small team to set timeframes v. Knowledge of WHS procedures including plant and vehicle pre-starts, risk analysis and job safety assessments (JSAs) vi. Sound ability to operate and use hands tools, small power tools, plant, specialised machinery and vehicles effectively and safely vii. Basic ability to use IT hardware such as smart phone and tablet applications
