Lead the successful development and delivery of a major underground mining project for a leading global gold producer.

An exceptional opportunity exists for an accomplished Project Director to provide strategic leadership across the planning, development, construction, commissioning and operational handover of a large-scale underground mining project.

This executive-level role will oversee all project phases, ensuring safe, efficient and commercially successful delivery of underground infrastructure, mine development and associated processing and surface facilities. The successful candidate will bring extensive experience delivering complex mining projects and a proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams through the full project lifecycle.

About the Role

Reporting to senior leadership, you will be accountable for the execution of a major underground mining investment, ensuring alignment with broader business objectives and long-term growth strategies.

You will lead integrated project teams across engineering, project controls, procurement, contracts, construction, commissioning and operational readiness to deliver a world-class underground mining operation.

This role is suited to a highly experienced project leader who has successfully delivered large-scale underground mine developments, including declines, shafts, ventilation systems, paste fill infrastructure, underground services, materials handling systems and associated surface infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

Provide strategic direction and leadership for a major underground mining project.

Align project objectives with the broader business and portfolio strategy.

Establish and maintain solid relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, including regulators, contractors, site leadership and community partners.

Develop and lead a high-performing integrated project team.

Define and implement project execution and contracting strategies.

Oversee engineering,



procurement and construction activities across underground and surface infrastructure.

Manage project controls relating to cost, schedule, risk and scope.

Ensure project risks are identified, mitigated and effectively managed.

Deliver approved project outcomes safely, on budget and on schedule.

Lead commissioning, operational readiness and ramp-up activities to achieve targeted production outcomes.

Ensure seamless transition from project execution into underground mining operations.

About You

- 15+ years' experience delivering major capital projects within the mining industry.

- Demonstrated success leading large-scale underground mining developments from study through execution.

- Experience delivering projects involving declines, shafts, underground infrastructure, ventilation systems and mine services.

- Strong knowledge of EPCM and owner's team delivery models.

- Proven leadership capability managing large multidisciplinary teams and contractors.

- Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills.

- Strong commercial, contractual and risk management expertise.

- Advanced planning, reporting and project governance capability.

- Ability to influence and engage executive leadership teams and external stakeholders.

Technical Experience

- Extensive knowledge of the project management lifecycle for major mining developments.

- Strong understanding of underground mine design, development and operational requirements.

- Detailed understanding of engineering, procurement and construction management processes.

- Expertise in project controls, including: Cost management, Schedule management, Risk management

- Experience delivering commissioning, operational readiness and production ramp-up programs for underground operations.
