SWI is a growing Australian business specialising in high-security fencing and complex infrastructure projects. We work across defence, government, transport, utilities and other critical infrastructure environments, delivering projects where safety, quality and reliability matter.
We’re growing our national delivery team and are looking for an experienced Project Manager to take ownership of projects from mobilisation through to completion.
This is a role for someone who enjoys running projects, solving problems and getting things done — not simply managing paperwork. You’ll have genuine accountability for programme, budget, subcontractors, client relationships, quality, safety and delivery risk.
If you’re ready for a role where your experience is valued, your decisions matter and you can see the direct results of your work, we’d like to hear from you.
What you'll be doing
You’ll take ownership of your projects from early planning through to final handover, including:
- Reviewing scope, programme, constructability and delivery risks.
- Developing construction methodologies, logistics and resourcing plans.
- Leading project mobilisation and making sure the project is set up properly from the start.
- Managing subcontractors, suppliers and project interfaces.
- Owning programme, budget, forecasting and delivery performance.
- Leading client and consultant meetings and building strong working relationships.
- Working closely with Construction Managers and site teams to keep delivery on track.
- Identifying and managing EOTs, risks and emerging issues early.
- Managing quality, safety and environmental requirements throughout the project.
- Managing defects, DLP, handover, O&M; manuals, as-builts and final project closeout.
What we're looking for
You’ll be a Project Manager who takes ownership, communicates clearly and is comfortable making decisions.
You’ll ideally have
- 5 years’ project management experience in construction, civil or fencing projects.
- Experience managing subcontractors, site teams and multiple project interfaces.
- Strong understanding of programme, cost, risk, quality and safety.
- The ability to identify issues early and deal with them before they become bigger problems.
- Strong commercial and contractual awareness.
- Confidence dealing directly with clients, consultants and subcontractors.
- Sound technical judgement and an understanding of construction methodology and buildability.
- Strong organisation and communication skills.
- The ability to manage competing priorities while keeping the project moving.
Relevant construction management or engineering qualifications will be well regarded, along with a current driver's licence and White Card.
Why join SWI?
At SWI, you’ll have the opportunity to work on high-security, defence, infrastructure and critical construction projects across Australia.
You’ll have
- Genuine ownership of your projects.
- Direct exposure to senior leadership.
- The opportunity to build robust, long-term client relationships.
- Experienced Construction Managers and delivery teams around you.
- The opportunity to be part of a growing national business.
- A role where your experience and judgement can make a real difference.
The role is regionally based, with opportunities across Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Darwin and Perth, depending on project allocation. The position is predominantly office-based, with regular site visits to projects within your portfolio.
The opportunity
If you’re a Project Manager who takes ownership, knows how to run a job and doesn't wait for problems to become someone else's problem, we want to hear from you.
If you enjoy working with good people, dealing directly with clients and having genuine accountability for the outcome, this could be your next move.
