About the Role
We are looking for a skilled Test Automation Engineer to join our Quality Engineering team. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience building and maintaining automated test suites using Selenium with Java and Playwright with TypeScript , combined with strong manual testing fundamentals. You will work closely with developers, product managers, and QA peers to ensure the quality, reliability, and performance of our applications across web and mobile platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts using Selenium WebDriver (Java) and Playwright (TypeScript) for web application testing.
- Perform thorough manual testing — functional, regression, exploratory, smoke, and UAT support — for features where automation coverage is still evolving or not feasible.
- Build and enhance test automation frameworks (Page Object Model, data-driven and keyword-driven approaches) to improve reusability, scalability, and maintainability.
- Integrate automated test suites into CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, CodeBuild) to enable continuous testing.
- Identify, log, and track defects clearly and thoroughly using tools such as Jira, including steps to reproduce, severity, and supporting evidence (screenshots/logs).
- Collaborate with developers and BAs to understand requirements, review acceptance criteria, and translate them into effective manual and automated test cases.
- Analyze test results, triage failures, and distinguish flaky tests from genuine regressions.
- Contribute to test strategy and planning, including scope, risk assessment, and automation candidate selection.
- Participate in code reviews for test scripts and promote best practices in test design and coding standards.
- Maintain test documentation, including test plans, test cases, and traceability matrices.
Required Skills & Experience
- 3+ years of experience in software testing, with a solid mix of manual and automated testing.
- Strong hands-on experience with Selenium WebDriver using Java for web UI automation.
- Practical experience with Playwright using TypeScript for modern web application testing.
- Solid understanding of manual testing techniques: test case design, exploratory testing, regression testing, and defect management.
- Working knowledge of test frameworks such as TestNG or JUnit (Java) and Playwright Test runner (TypeScript).
- Experience with version control systems (Git) and CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or similar).
- Familiarity with API testing tools/libraries (e.g., Postman, RestAssured, or Playwright’s API testing capabilities).
- Good understanding of the software testing life cycle (STLC) and Agile/Scrum methodologies.
- Strong analytical and debugging skills, with the ability to isolate root causes of failures.
- Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
Nice to Have
- Experience with cross-browser and cross-platform testing.
- Exposure to performance testing tools (JMeter, k6) or accessibility testing.
- Experience with Docker/containerized test environments.
- Basic understanding of SQL for backend/data validation.
- Experience with mobile automation tools (Appium) is a plus.
- Prior experience in a product-based or SaaS environment.
What We Offer
- Chance to work on modern automation frameworks across two tech stacks (Java + Selenium and TypeScript + Playwright).
- Collaborative engineering culture with strong emphasis on quality practices.
- Competitive compensation and benefits.
- [Add company-specific perks: remote flexibility, learning budget, health benefits, etc.]
