Situated in the scenic South West region, the Wellington District is a popular destination for outdoor adventure enthusiasts as well as casual travellers. Our keystone recreation precinct is the Wellington National Park. Attractions include the Wellington Dam and Mega Mural, Honeymoon Pool Campground, and our world class tracks and trails network encompassing the Bibbulmun Track, Munda Biddi Trail and over 90km of downhill mountain bike trails.

Sites and Reserves within Wellington District include Lake Kepwari - South West WA’s largest inland water ski area, Stockton Lake, Logue Brook Dam, and the historic Leschenault Peninsula Conservation Park.

The District headquarters is located in Collie, where it has been since the 1920s, with a small satellite work centre in Harvey.

The Wellington

District’s 4 key programs are nature conservation, sustainable forest management, fire management, and parks and visitor services. Rangers work within the Parks and Visitor Services program to deliver secure and effective management of people and places, while collaborating and liaising with other programs to meet shared goals and achieve positive outcomes for the conservation estate.

We currently have an opportunity for two Rangers to join our Wellington District team.

Under the immediate direction of the Senior Ranger, these positions:

- Work independently across parks and reserves to deliver programmed park operations and maintenance works, including the inspection, construction, and repair of park infrastructure, servicing visitor facilities, and general field work using a range of tools, equipment and vehicles.
- Engages in fire management activities including bushfire suppression and prescribed burning operations and on-call rosters




- Assist in the monitoring and compliance of park revenue via Park Stay WA and engage in compliance and enforcement duties under the CALM Act.
- Work proactively to engage and liaise with park visitors to provide information, respond to enquiries, and guide positive behaviour on the conservation estate.

To support relocation, subsidised local housing is available to successful applicants during their initial period of employment. The successful applicant will be required to possess or obtain a current Working With Children Check, a current and satisfactory National Police Check and a current Western Australian "C" class drivers licence prior to commencement.

Selection Criteria

1. Evidence of good interpersonal skills with an ability for (Grade 1) or experience in (Grade 2) liaison with the public, commercial tourism operators, community groups, Indigenous groups and other stakeholders.
2. Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team, show initiative and to work unsupervised.
3. Ability to (Grade 1) or demonstrated experience in (Grade 2) construction and maintenance, carrying out routine maintenance duties, including the use of hand tools, power tools, chainsaws and small engines.
