About the Client
Our client is an essential, highly trusted organisation delivering critical services and digital solutions across New South Wales. Currently undergoing a significant multi-year digital transformation, they are modernising enterprise systems, upgrading infrastructure, and elevating customer experience.
The Opportunity
We are looking for a highly experienced Release Management Lead to oversee the planning, coordination, and execution of releases across a major portfolio of modernization initiatives (including enterprise system overhauls, AWS cloud migrations, and Snowflake data platforms).
Reporting within the EPMO, you will serve as the critical bridge between project teams, ICT, operations, and external partners to ensure all software and platform releases are deployed safely, predictably, and with zero operational disruption.
Key Responsibilities
- Release Planning & Execution: Lead end-to-end release activities across complex modernisation roadmaps, maintaining transparent forward release schedules and deployment plans.
- Environment & Governance Alignment: Coordinate workplace availability (dev, test, pre-prod, prod), ensuring strict adherence to Configuration Management (CM) and ITIL Service Delivery frameworks.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with Program Managers,
Technical Leads, BAs, Vendors, and Managed Service Providers to align dependencies and delivery milestones.
- Risk & Change Management: Drive release readiness assessments, manage cross-team dependencies, and represent release changes at key governance forums (SteerCo, PCG).
- Continuous Improvement: Uplift current release, setting, and deployment practices to align with DevOps and automated CI/CD pathways.
What You'll Need to Succeed
- 10+ Years of Experience: Proven background leading complex IT system releases and deployment cycles in large-scale or regulated environments.
- Technical Depth: Hands-on familiarity with AWS, Snowflake, API integrations, IAM, CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps-aligned practices.
- Solid Framework Knowledge: Deep understanding of ITIL, Change Governance, Environment Management, and Configuration Management processes (ITIL certification required).
- Stakeholder Influence: Exceptional communication skills with a proven track record of managing senior stakeholders, cross-functional technical teams, and external vendors.
- Governance & Documentation: High capability in producing clear deployment plans, release artefacts, and governance documentation under tight audit standards.
