Research Data Specialist | 6-Month Contract | Multiple LocationsYour new company A leading scientific and research-focused organisation is seeking a Research Data Specialist to join its Research Data Services team on an initial 6-month contract. This team plays a critical role in enabling researchers to effectively manage data throughout the research life cycle by providing tools, services, and expertise that support data governance, metadata management, storage, sharing, and compliance.

Your new role

As a Research Data Specialist, you will work closely with researchers, data stewards, and technology teams to support research data management capabilities across the organisation. You will help drive the adoption of research data management tools and services, support research data planning activities, and contribute to the continuous improvement of research data practices.Key responsibilities include:

- Supporting researchers with data management planning and research data life cycle activities
- Managing support requests, incidents, and escalations through established service management processes
- Supporting research data management platforms and associated services
- Gathering user requirements and contributing to backlog management, user stories, testing, and change initiatives
- Delivering training, workshops, documentation, and user support materials
- Promoting best-practice research data management, data stewardship, and metadata management
- Collaborating with a broad range of stakeholders across research, digital, and enterprise service teams

What you'll need to succeed
- Relevant qualifications or equivalent experience in science, technology,



information management, data management, or a related field
- Experience supporting research data management activities and an understanding of the research life cycle
- Knowledge of research data management planning, metadata, data stewardship, and data workflow mapping
- Experience using service management platforms such as Alemba, ServiceNow, Jira Service Management, or similar ticketing tools
- Strong stakeholder engagement, communication, and relationship-building skills
- Experience delivering training, workshops, user documentation, or capability uplift initiatives
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently and collaboratively
Highly desirable:

- Experience with research data repositories, archives, catalogues, or inventory tools
- Knowledge of research data governance frameworks, policies, and industry best practices
- Previous experience in research, higher education, scientific, or research-intensive environments
