The Organisation A leading national research and innovation organisation is seeking a Research Data Specialist to join its Research Data Services team. This role will support the delivery of enterprise-wide research data management capabilities, helping researchers effectively plan, manage, store, share and govern research data throughout the research lifecycle.

The Opportunity

As a Research Data Specialist, you will work closely with researchers, technical teams and business stakeholders to improve research data management practices and ensure the effective use of enterprise data platforms and services. You will play a key role in supporting research data planning tools, data stewardship initiatives and user capability development across a complex scientific setting.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide support for research data management systems, tools and services, including managing support requests and escalations through established service management frameworks.
- Partner with researchers to understand data management workflows and promote best-practice data lifecycle management.
- Support product and capability development for research data management platforms by gathering requirements, maintaining feature backlogs, developing user stories and participating in testing and change management activities.
- Develop and deliver user training, workshops, presentations and documentation to enhance research data management capabilities across the organisation.




- Collaborate with geographically dispersed teams and stakeholders to deliver scalable, sustainable and user-focused data management solutions.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that strengthen data governance, compliance and operational efficiency.

Skills & Experience To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:

- Tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience in information management, data management, science, technology or a related discipline.
- Experience supporting research data management practices, including data lifecycle management, data planning and workflow mapping.
- Experience providing user support through service management platforms and ticketing systems.
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.
- A proactive approach to driving change and promoting best-practice data management processes.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to navigate complex challenges and deliver practical solutions.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.

Desirable Experience

- Experience supporting data repositories, archives and research data platforms.
- Knowledge of research data planning tools, data catalogues and metadata management solutions.
- Understanding of research data governance, policies, standards and industry best practices.
