Located at Stockland Green Hills Shopping Centre, East Maitland, the newsagency provides customers with a diverse range of products including magazines, greeting cards, stationery, giftware and NSW Lotteries services.

The business focuses on providing a welcoming store environment and high-quality customer service. The business is seeking an experienced Retail Manager to take responsibility for the effective day-to-day management of the newsagency and to contribute to its continued growth and success. This is a hands-on retail management position responsible for leading staff, managing stock and suppliers, overseeing sales and store performance, maintaining merchandising standards and ensuring consistently high levels of customer service.

The successful candidate will play an important role in ensuring the newsagency operates efficiently, professionally and profitably while maintaining the friendly, community-focused environment for which Greenhills Newsagency is known. Stable, long-term career opportunity within an established business. Task & responsibilities Manage and oversee the day-to-day operations of Newsagency. Organise and control retail operations to ensure efficient and effective store performance.

Supervise, lead and support retail staff to maintain high standards of customer service and store operations. Prepare staff rosters, allocate duties and coordinate daily staffing requirements. Assist with staff recruitment, induction, training and ongoing development.

Monitor staff performance and provide appropriate guidance and support. Determine appropriate product mix, stock levels and service standards based on customer demand and store performance. Manage stock ordering, receiving, pricing, storage, replenishment and merchandising.

Maintain appropriate stock levels and minimise shortages, excess stock and wastage. Maintain accurate records relating to stock, sales and retail transactions. Liaise with suppliers to support product availability and timely stock replenishment.

Monitor product pricing and assist with purchasing and pricing decisions. Monitor daily sales and overall store performance. Review customer demand and sales performance to identify opportunities to improve retail operations.

Implement appropriate promotional, merchandising and product-display activities to support sales. Ensure magazines, greeting cards, stationery,



giftware and other retail products are appropriately stocked, priced and attractively displayed. Maintain high standards of store presentation, cleanliness and organisation.

Provide excellent customer service and assist customers with product enquiries and selection. Resolve customer enquiries and complaints professionally and promptly. Oversee point-of-sale, cash-handling and EFTPOS procedures.

Ensure appropriate procedures are followed for NSW Lotteries products and services. Monitor store operating expenses and contribute to effective financial and operational management. Provide relevant operational and sales information to the business owner/director.

Identify opportunities to improve store efficiency, customer service and retail performance. Ensure compliance with workplace health and safety requirements and company procedures. Maintain a safe, organised, well-presented and welcoming retail environment.

Qualification & experience Relevant qualification, minimum Diploma or higher in Business, Commerce or a related discipline. Previous experience in customer-focused retail environment. Knowledge of retail merchandising, purchasing, stock management and promotional activities.

One to Two experience in retail management. Excellent customer service and communication skills, with the ability to resolve customer enquiries professionally.

Great organisational and time-management skills. Ability to work independently and make sound operational decisions. Have great attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
