About the role

Chapman Family Medical Centre in Canberra is seeking a dedicated and compassionate General Practitioner to join our growing team in Chapman, ACT 2611.

This is a full-time position/Part time /Flexible hours offering the opportunity to provide comprehensive primary healthcare services to our diverse patient population.

As a General Practitioner, you will be at the heart of our medical centre, delivering evidence-based care, building strong patient relationships, and contributing to the overall health and wellbeing of the Chapman community. This role is integral to our mission of providing accessible, high-quality healthcare services to families and individuals across our catchment area.

Key responsibilities

- Conducting comprehensive patient consultations, including history taking, physical examinations, and diagnostic assessments across the full spectrum of primary care presentations

- Diagnosing and managing acute and chronic medical conditions in accordance with current clinical guidelines and best practice standards

- Prescribing appropriate medications and treatments, ensuring optimal therapeutic outcomes and patient safety

- Ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, including pathology and imaging, to support clinical decision-making

- Providing preventative healthcare services, including health screening, immunisations, and health promotion advice

- Managing chronic disease surveillance and care coordination for patients with conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, and cardiovascular disease

- Maintaining accurate, detailed and timely medical records in accordance with legal and regulatory requirements

- Building and maintaining strong, trusting relationships with patients to support continuity of care and patient satisfaction

- Collaborating with other healthcare professionals, including nurses, allied health practitioners, and specialist services, to ensure coordinated and integrated patient care





- Referring patients to appropriate specialist services when required and following up on referral outcomes

- Staying current with medical literature, clinical guidelines, and developments in general practice to maintain qualified competence

- Contributing to quality improvement initiatives and participating in relevant career development and training activities

What we're looking for

- Current registration as a General Practitioner with the Australian Medical Regulatory Authority (AHPRA)

- Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) or equivalent recognised general practice qualification

- Completed medical degree and vocational training in general practice recognised by Australian medical registration bodies

- Demonstrated commitment to providing patient-centred, compassionate care with strong clinical knowledge and skills

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage effectively with diverse patient populations

- Strong clinical decision-making and diagnostic reasoning abilities

- Proficiency in using electronic medical records and practice management systems

- Current knowledge of Medicare rebate schemes and requirements for Australian general practice

- A collaborative approach to working within a multidisciplinary healthcare team

- Commitment to ongoing professional development and maintaining clinical competence
