Human Resources Consultant

The Consortio Group comprises three organisations operating under one banner, delivering recruitment, payroll management and professional consulting services.

We are seeking an experienced, practical and highly organised Human Resources Consultant to support our approximately 50 internal employees. This is a hands-on role responsible for the day-to-day delivery of HR services, employee relations, compliance and people administration across the Group.

The position will also provide guidance on contingent workforce employment matters where required; however, its primary focus is supporting our internal workforce and managers.

Key accountabilities

- Manage day-to-day HR operations across the Group, providing timely and practical support to employees and managers.
- Support the complete employee lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding, probation, performance management, remuneration reviews, development, offboarding and terminations.
- Maintain employment contracts, employee personnel files, HR records, position descriptions, policies and organisational charts.
- Provide advice to managers and employees on workplace policies, employment conditions, performance, conduct, leave and other employment-related matters.
- Manage employee relations matters, including grievances, disciplinary processes, underperformance, workplace investigations and terminations.
- Assist managers to address workplace issues promptly and fairly, promoting positive and productive working relationships.
- Maintain and improve HR policies, procedures, templates and systems to support consistency, compliance and operational efficiency.
- Monitor compliance with relevant employment legislation, Modern Awards, enterprise agreements and internal policies.
- Interpret Up-to-date Awards and enterprise agreements, including employee classifications, pay rates, working hours,



allowances and employment conditions.
- Coordinate probation reviews, performance review processes and employee development initiatives.
- Support employee engagement, wellbeing, retention and workplace culture initiatives.
- Work with payroll and management to resolve employee pay, leave, superannuation and employment-condition queries.
- Identify employment-related risks and recommend practical measures to mitigate them.
- Provide advice on contingent workforce employment obligations and compliance matters when required.
- Prepare HR reports and maintain accurate workforce information for management.

Selection criteria

- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Human Resources, Employment Relations, Business or a related discipline.
- Demonstrated experience in a hands-on HR generalist, HR adviser or HR management role.
- Strong knowledge of Australian employment legislation, Modern Awards and contemporary HR practices.
- Experience managing employee relations matters, including performance management, grievances, disciplinary processes and terminations.
- Experience supporting the complete employee lifecycle within a small or medium-sized organisation.
- Strong HR administration skills and experience maintaining accurate employee records, policies and compliance documentation.
- Experience within recruitment, payroll, professional services or contingent workforce environments would be highly regarded.
- Practical, commercially aware and confident in providing clear advice to employees and managers.
- Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder-management skills.
- Strong organisational skills, attention to detail and the ability to prioritise urgent matters and a high volume of enquiries.
- A discreet and professional approach to confidential and sensitive employee matters.
- Comfortable working independently and taking ownership of the Group’s day-to-day HR requirements.
