About the role:

WA Football is seeking aRegional Talent Coach – Pilbarato lead the identification, development and support of talented young footballers throughout the Pilbara.

This part-time (0.5FTE) role will be based in the Pilbara and work closely with players, families, clubs, leagues, schools, communities and pathway partners to provide high-quality talent development opportunities across the region. This is a 3-year maximum term contract.

The primary focus is to holistically develop and support Pilbara footballers and increase the number of players participating in WA Talent Pathways.

The successful candidate will identify emerging talent, provide high-quality coaching and individual development support, and help players access representative and talent pathway opportunities. This includes supporting the development of players both on and off the field and connecting them with appropriate specialist support and development opportunities where required.





Central to the role will be a robust understanding of the Pilbara and the ability to build trusted relationships across its diverse communities. Player development will be delivered within a culturally competent framework that prioritises the wellbeing and development of young people.

Primary responsibilities include :

- Identify and monitor emerging talented footballers across the Pilbara.
- Plan and deliver high-quality coaching and individual development opportunities for identified players.
- Holistically support the development of identified players both on and off the field.
- Connect players with appropriate talent pathway and specialist development opportunities.
- Build strong relationships with players, families, clubs, leagues, schools, communities and pathway partners.
- Support players to participate in representative matches, carnivals and other WA Talent Pathway opportunities.
- Work collaboratively with local stakeholders to maximise talent identification and development opportunities.
- Support the development of local coaches and quality talent development environments.
- Ensure all programs prioritise athlete wellbeing, cultural safety and child safeguarding.

To be considered for this position you will need to demonstrate :

- Strong understanding of the Pilbara region, its communities and key stakeholders.
- High level of cultural competency and ability to build trusted relationships across diverse communities.
- Strong understanding of talent identification, talent development and the WA football pathway.
- Demonstrated coaching and mentorship experience.




- Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and effectively across a geographically dispersed region.
- Experience working with young people in a safe, inclusive and development-focused environment.
- Current WA Driver’s Licence and Working with Children Check.
- Ability to effectively use relevant technology to support player and program development.
- Gold Level AFL Coach Accreditation or equivalent advanced coaching accreditation.
- Experience within WAFL, State Academy, AFL Next Generation Academy or other talent pathway programs.
- Experience working within Pilbara or regional football environments.
- Experience developing individual development plans for talented young athletes.
- Experience developing and mentoring coaches.
