Itch Recruitment
Perth
You know the feeling when the numbers tell you something before anyone else in the room has spotted it.
A project margin moving. Costs starting to creep. Cash flow needing attention. A decision that could be made better, faster, with the right financial insight behind it.
If that is the part of construction accounting you enjoy, this is worth a look.
I am working with a growing WA construction group that has built serious capability across commercial construction, precast, structures, formwork, plant hire and related services. It is vertically integrated, well regarded and growing for all the right reasons. This is a newly created Senior Accountant role, not a replacement.
Why you might make the move
This is not a role where you spend your life buried in transactional work, producing reports no one reads.
You will be close to the projects, close to the operational team and close to the decisions that matter. You will have the autonomy to run your work properly, the support of accessible leaders when you need it, and genuine scope to grow as the group continues to expand.
What is in it for you:
- Up to $165,000 + super, depending on experience
- A newly created role with room to shape how it evolves
- Direct exposure to an experienced CFO and GM
- A business with a strong pipeline and multiple operating entities
- A close-knit finance team made up of good, capable people
- Allocated onsite parking, because Perth parking should not be a daily tax
- Leadership that values trust, autonomy and sensible decision-making
- Career progression within a group that is building momentum, not standing still
The work that matters Your job is to make sure the financial picture is accurate, useful and understood by the people making decisions.
Expect variety across
- Monthly management accounts and group financial reporting
- Project costing,
job profitability and margin analysis
- CHEOPS reporting and project performance monitoring
- Cash flow forecasting and management
- Month-end, reconciliations and accrual accounting
- Payroll and accounts support when required
- Commercial reporting for leadership and project teams
- Improving systems and processes as the group grows
This will suit you if... You are a construction accountant through and through. You understand that job cost reports are not just spreadsheets, margins are not just percentages, and a conversation with a Project Manager can be every bit as important as the month-end close.
You are comfortable getting into the detail, but you can also lift your head and explain what the numbers mean. You do not need someone checking every step you take, but you value working with leaders who are available, switched on and happy to back positive people.
You will need...
- Commercial construction accounting experience, ideally across projects and multiple entities
- Strong project-costing and job-profitability capability
- CHEOPS experience, or the ability to demonstrate you have worked deeply in it
- A relevant accounting degree
- Sound accrual accounting, reconciliation and month-end knowledge
- Confidence working with operational stakeholders, not just finance people
- The ability to prioritise, stay calm and keep moving when the day changes shape
- CPA qualification is welcome, but it is not essential
- Residential construction experience may also be relevant, but commercial construction is the priority.
This is a chance to step into a business with substance, momentum and leaders who want finance at the table, not in the corner. Only applicants with full Australian working rights living in Perth will be considered for this role
