We are currently recruiting for an experienced Senior Accountant to join a high-performing finance team in a casual capacity. This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong accounting professional who enjoys ownership, complexity, and ensuring financial integrity at the highest level.
This role is ideal for someone who takes pride in precision, thrives on solving complex reconciliations, and has a deep understanding of balance sheet management.
As the Senior Accountant you will act as the guardian of the Statement of Financial Position, ensuring the accuracy, compliance, and integrity of the General Ledger across multiple entities.
Working closely with finance leadership, you will take ownership of complex reconciliations, technical accounting matters, audit preparation, and month-end processes.
This is a casual role, offering flexibility while still providing exposure to high-level accounting responsibilities and strategic finance initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
General Ledger & Reconciliations
- Perform complex balance sheet reconciliations, including intercompany accounts, equity, loans, and fixed assets
- Ensure all sub-ledgers (AP, AR, Fixed Assets) reconcile to the General Ledger monthly
- Investigate and resolve aged reconciling items
- Review and supervise work performed by offshore/outsourced finance teams
Asset & Liability Management
- Own and maintain the Fixed Asset Register, including CapEx tracking, disposals, and depreciation
- Manage lease accounting in compliance with current accounting standards
- Maintain detailed schedules for prepayments, accruals, and other balance sheet items
- Ensure accurate period cut-offs
Technical Accounting & Audit
- Prepare technical accounting memos for complex transactions
- Act as primary contact for external and internal auditors
- Lead preparation of year-end audit files and supporting documentation
- Support treasury and cash flow reporting
Compliance & Reporting
- Assist with tax workings (GST/VAT, corporate tax, payroll tax) in collaboration with advisors
- Maintain strong internal controls and governance processes
- Lead month-end and year-end close processes
- Assist in preparation of financial statements and variance analysis
Continuous Improvement
- Identify and implement process improvements and automation initiatives
- Maintain and update finance SOPs
- Support budgeting and business improvement projects
- Provide ad-hoc financial analysis as required
About You You are a detail-oriented and technically strong accounting professional who enjoys diving deep into financial data and ensuring accuracy.
You will bring
- Solid knowledge of GAAP/IFRS, particularly asset and liability recognition
- Experience managing complex reconciliations
- Exposure to lease accounting and fixed assets
- Confidence working directly with auditors
- Advanced Excel skills (Power Query, Pivot Tables)
- ERP experience (Oracle Cloud or similar preferred)
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain financial movements clearly
- CPA/CA qualification (or working towards) is highly regarded.
