Overview

Delivery excellence is the foundation on which we build long lasting customer relationships. As a Senior Project Manager at Switch, you will be accountable for delivery and customer satisfaction across a large, technical program of work.

With a proven track record of customer satisfaction and delivery excellence, you will be responsible for spearheading senior customer engagement through account planning and with a growth mindset, supported by the Switch Executive Team.

You will be at the helm of your program Delivery team, planning and directing workflow based on the scopes of work you build to meet customer objectives. You will demonstrate industry-leading service delivery by understanding and enabling the resources, skills and capabilities required to deliver each engagement, and communicating those needs up to Leadership. You will foster an attitude of collaboration to help achieve continuous improvement of the team.

You are commercially minded, managing each engagement while prioritising quality delivery, customer satisfactions and commercial outcomes simultaneously and with equal importance.

This role will be focused on the management and delivery of multi-year digital programs of work, assumed to include a CMS re-platforms across multiple websites and portals, as well as other projects to be found and sold in for organic customer growth.

You should have a strong background in leading enterprise level technical builds and be able to demonstrate understanding of technical concepts, project management methodologies, and standard artefacts and processes for software development.

You should be able to confidently collaborate with client-side stakeholders at all levels, independently manage a cross-functional project team including designers, business analysts, solution architects, developers, testers, and digital marketing specialists, and deliver assigned projects on time, on budget, and in good quality.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

Project Management

- Planning project delivery in alignment with the project’s commercial terms and using our standardised Switch Methodology
- Set up and maintain project artefacts during the entire project life cycle, including project overviews, budgets, timelines, resource plans, routine reports, milestone sign-off documents, and post-delivery reviews
- Conduct requirements analysis and documentation independently for small to medium projects and collaborate with business analysts on these tasks for large projects
- Establish and maintain good and effective working relationships with client-side project managers and other key stakeholders
- Manage internal project teams across all roles required in assigned projects
- Coordinate with other project managers on resource capacity allocation
- Identify and manage project issues and risks in a professional and efficient manner and provide clear and timely status reports to both internal and external stakeholders
- Be responsible for delivering quality control, timeline/budget tracking, resource utilisation, and overall profitability
- Participate in pre-sale tender response preparation, cost estimates, resource modelling, and client presentations




- Reporting on project delivery, with a focus on customer success, sprints, key milestones and project commercial performance
- Communicate effectively when there is a conflict in achieving expected results within assigned time or hours

The Customers

- Lead projects when required with support and oversight from a Delivery Director
- Build strong relationships with equivalent stakeholders within the customer organisation
- Lead customer presentations, demonstrating understanding of the brief and requirements, and effectively communicating how the solution meets them
- Facilitate workshops and customer interactions to clarify requirements
- Understand the customer's goals and how the work contributes to them
- Identify key individuals at the customer and knowledge of their processes for implementing change
- Collaborate on any presentations led by a senior team member
- Assist in leading workshops or client engagements with guidance from a senior team member
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with counterpart stakeholders within a customer organisation

The Work

- Understand customer objectives to provide guidance and opinions to the team on the recommended solution and areas for improvement
- Participate in the brief process, estimate and design process to achieve customer outcomes
- Contribute to the definition of methodology and standards
- Delegate work and ensure quality from peers and junior team members
- Contribute to the design of methodologies and solutions in a broader context
- Create solutions for a specific portion of a project, such as at story level, with guidance and supervision, within the scope of a pre-defined brief
- Take ownership and accountability of work, ensuring deadlines are met or working with the project team to adjust expectations
- Possess good personal time management and organisational skills
- Follow predefined standards, systems and frameworks
- Ensure agreed upon processes are understood and followed

- Ensure delegated work meets customer expectations and stays within commercial boundaries, and communicate any issues or deviations to other team members to ensure customer satisfaction and appropriate commercial management
- Understand tasks and interdependencies, work with peers to meet project timelines and commercial goals, and communicate effectively when risks are identified
- Estimate work with consideration of customer budget, providing multiple options if necessary




- Understand assigned tasks, clarify objectives and work within commercial limitations
- Plan and identify limitations in delivering within commercial boundaries
- Communicate effectively when facing conflicts in meeting expectations within assigned time or hours

Growth

- Contribute to growth conversations with Leads and Directors by identifying and suggesting areas for improvement for the customer that could be sold in
- Write proposals within the scope of your discipline
- Provide estimates for deliverables within the scope of your discipline
- Communicate potential opportunities for growth

Skills & Experience

Experience

- Should have 4+ years in digital with a range of project experience across discovery, design and development activities.
- Experience of UX strategy and data-driven optimisation methodologies preferred.
- Web agency experience.

Essential

- A portfolio demonstrating your past experience in the management of digital development.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Solid understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle and Agile Methodologies including Scrum, Kanban, and Waterfall.
- Proven client relationship management experience and presentation skills.
- Familiar with mainstream project management tools such as Jira, Confluence, Microsoft Project, etc.
- Self-motivated with good time management skills and ability to manage multiple projects under various budget/timeline/resource pressure.
- Ability to think analytically and creatively with good problem-solving capabilities.
- Passionate about the digital transformation in web, social media, and emerging technologies.

Useful

- Knowledge of Product Ownership
- Experience with writing epics, user stories, testing plans, functional or technical specs, and acceptance criteria
- Certifications in Project Management (PMP and/or Prince2) and Agile/Scrum Methodology (CSM, CSPO, etc.).
- Prior experience or prior education in computer science and/or software engineering experience.
- Experience with mainstream eCommerce, CRM, or content management platforms.
