Senior Financial Accountant | Financial Services
Join one of Australia’s fastest-growing financial services groups and help strengthen the finance function behind that growth.
This is an opportunity for a Senior Financial Accountant who wants broad ownership, meaningful complexity and the chance to improve how finance operates.
You’ll join a diversified financial services organisation operating across investment management, wealth and trustee-related services. The finance environment is evolving alongside the business, creating a role that combines strong financial accounting with analysis, systems improvement and cross-functional problem solving.
You’ll work in a close-knit, agile finance team where people are expected to collaborate, take ownership and follow problems through to resolution.
What you will achieve in the first 12 months
Deliver a more accurate and effective multi-entity close
Take ownership of financial accounting across a portfolio of entities, delivering accurate and timely journals, accruals, reconciliations and management accounts while improving the processes that support month-end.
Strengthen balance-sheet integrity and financial controls
Build greater confidence in the numbers through high-quality reconciliations, stronger documentation and controls, and disciplined resolution of outstanding or unusual items.
Improve revenue and billing accounting
Strengthen the accuracy of revenue, billing, receivables, payables and cash accounting by understanding the commercial activity behind the numbers and working across teams to resolve discrepancies.
Turn financial results into useful insight
Understand the drivers behind material P&L; and balance-sheet movements and provide clear analysis that helps finance leaders, FP&A; and the wider business understand performance.
Improve finance processes and systems
Identify manual activity, inefficient workflows and control gaps, then contribute practical improvements through better processes, stronger use of NetSuite, improved documentation and appropriate automation.
Success will mean not only delivering high-quality accounting, but leaving parts of the finance environment more accurate, efficient and scalable because of your contribution.
Delivering these outcomes will require strong financial accounting fundamentals and the confidence to work independently across month-end, reconciliations, management accounts, revenue accounting, controls and audit support.
It will also suit someone who naturally investigates. When something doesn’t reconcile, you work out why. When a movement looks unusual, you understand the underlying driver. When a process repeatedly creates problems, you look for a better way.
You’ll work closely with FP&A;, billing, operations, product and commercial teams, as well as external and offshore providers, so clear communication and the ability to build effective working relationships will matter as much as technical capability.
Experience in funds management,
asset management, wealth, trustee or Responsible Entity environments would be valuable, but is not essential. Strong accountants from other complex multi-entity environments, including professional services, are encouraged to apply.
CA or CPA qualification, or progress toward qualification, is preferred.
Why this and why now?
The business is growing quickly, increasing both the scale and complexity of its finance environment.
That growth is creating an opportunity to strengthen how finance operates, improving systems, processes and controls while creating greater capacity for analysis and higher-value work.
You’ll join a close-knit, high-performing finance team with an agile structure and a strong culture of collaboration, ownership and accountability. You’ll work alongside capable people across finance and the wider business who are expected to get into the detail, solve problems together and take responsibility for outcomes.
The structure is lean enough for your contribution to be visible, while the breadth of the business gives you exposure beyond a conventional financial accounting remit, including revenue, systems, business change, new products and process improvement.
For someone looking for more ownership, broader exposure and the opportunity to help build a better finance environment within a growing business, the timing is strong.
Location: Sydney preferred, with Brisbane and Melbourne also considered
Working style: Hybrid
If our challenges, growth and journey sound like something you’d enjoy being part of, we’d welcome your application.
