About the Company The Senior Garment Technician is the technical authority responsible for ensuring the highest standards of garment fit, construction, quality, and consistency across all Rachel Gilbert collections. This role leads the technical development process from design handover through to bulk production approval, ensuring each garment maintains the integrity of the original design while meeting commercial, manufacturing, and quality objectives. Working collaboratively with Design, Product Development, Production, and global manufacturing partners, the Senior Garment Technician provides expert technical direction, leads all fit sessions, mentors junior technical team members, and continuously improves technical processes to support business growth and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership & Product Development

- Lead the technical development of all assigned product categories from design handover through to shipment approval.
- Establish and maintain fit, grading and construction standards across all collections.
- Create and approve detailed technical specifications, measurement charts and construction instructions.
- Produce and maintain accurate technical drawings using Adobe Illustrator.
- Review and approve all production tech packs, ensuring complete technical accuracy prior to bulk production.
- Identify construction risks early and provide commercially viable technical solutions while maintaining design intent.
- Drive continuous improvement of garment construction methods, workmanship and manufacturing efficiencies.

Fit Management & Technical Excellence

- Lead all fit sessions across Prototype, SMS, PPS and Shipping Sample stages.
- Analyse garment fit, balance, proportion and construction, providing clear technical direction to suppliers.
- Approve all measurement specifications and grading prior to bulk production.




- Ensure all pattern amendments and fit comments are accurately implemented throughout development.
- Maintain consistency of fit across all product categories and seasonal collections.
- Develop and maintain fit standards, grading rules and technical blocks.

Sample & Quality Approval

- Oversee the technical approval process for all development samples.
- Measure and assess all development samples against approved specifications.
- Review and approve all size sets to ensure grading consistency.
- Conduct final technical approval of shipment samples before production release.
- Prepare and review technical documentation for third-party quality inspections.
- Ensure all garments achieve Rachel Gilbert's luxury quality standards prior to shipment.
- Lead investigations into recurring fit or construction issues and implement preventative actions.

Fabric, Trim & Construction Innovation

- Review and approve all trim, hardware and construction developments.
- Collaborate with Product Development on fabric performance, testing and suitability.
- Recommend cutting-edge construction methods and finishing techniques to improve quality, durability and wearer comfort.
- Provide technical input into sourcing decisions where construction or fabrication impacts product performance.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

- Partner closely with Design, Product Development, Production and external suppliers throughout development.
- Provide technical expertise during development meetings and seasonal planning.
- Analyse customer returns and fit feedback,



identifying trends and implementing corrective actions.
- Build strong supplier relationships through clear communication and technical guidance.
- Support Production with technical advice throughout bulk manufacturing.

Leadership & Mentoring

- Mentor and support Garment Technicians and Product Developers, providing technical coaching and development.
- Establish best practice technical processes and documentation standards.
- Review work completed by junior team members to ensure consistency and accuracy.
- Promote a culture of quality, accountability and continuous improvement within the technical team.

Administration & Critical Path Management

- Maintain accurate technical records, approvals and sample tracking throughout development.
- Ensure all technical milestones are achieved within the seasonal Critical Path.
- Prepare repeat style technical documentation and updates where required.
- Monitor supplier adherence to technical deadlines and escalate risks proactively.

Qualifications

- 8 years' experience as a Senior Garment Technician or Technical Product Developer within luxury or premium fashion.
- Expert knowledge of garment construction, pattern making, grading and fit across multiple product categories.
- Extensive experience leading fit sessions and managing technical product development from concept through production.
- Strong understanding of luxury garment manufacturing, couture finishing techniques and premium fabrication.
- Proven experience working directly with offshore manufacturers and technical suppliers.
- Highly proficient in Adobe Illustrator and technical specification management.
- Excellent analytical, communication and problem-solving skills.
- Strong leadership experience with the ability to mentor and develop technical teams.
- Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to product excellence.
