The Senior Laboratory Technician role is practical and hands-on, with a strong emphasis on the application of a range of chemical analyses, including:

- Wet chemistry (titrations)
- Electroanalytical techniques
- Spectroscopy
- ICP – mass spectrometry.

Key responsibilities

- Conduct chemical and physical laboratory tests of liquids and solids
- Process and prepare samples and chemical solutions
- Maintain the calibration of laboratory equipment
- Monitor product quality and production processes
- Prepare detailed reports, charts and diagrams to communicate results
- Support innovations in chemical products and processes
- Develop and validate methods for analytical purposes





Key requirements

- Bachelor's degree in Science majoring in Chemistry, Applied Chemistry or Chemical Technology
- Practical laboratory experience undertaking sample preparation, testing and analysis tasks
- Highly developed analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent organisational skills including the ability to take accountability for the accurate and timely completion of tasks
- Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively within a small team environment
- Knowledge and understanding of Quality Assurance, Safety & Environmental protocols applicable to a R&D; laboratory environment
- Well-developed administration and computer skills, including the ability to prepare technical reports and proficiency in using Excel spreadsheets
- Be eligible to obtain an appropriate Australian Government Security Clearance (NV1)
