About Pure

Pure Public Relations is a senior strategic PR agency helping organisations build influence, protect reputation and drive growth, even in the most complex environments. We work with industry associations, education, healthcare and professional services organisations, advocacy groups and purpose-led businesses.

Pure is a fully remote agency with an all-senior team spread across Australia. We work on a no-timesheet, results-guaranteed model, which means clients pay us to deliver agreed media outcomes.

In 2026, we were named in the Best Places to Work Awards (The Australian), recognising the high-performing, supportive culture we've built and are fiercely proud of.

About the role

One of our senior publicists is heading off on parental leave later this year, and we're hiring her cover on a fixed-term maternity leave contract.

We’re looking for an experienced publicist who knows how to find the story inside a complex issue, move quickly when the news cycle creates an opportunity, and secure media coverage that matters to clients.

You’ll work across a broad mix of clients, leaders, experts and issues, helping them become part of the conversations shaping business, society and everyday life.

Some days that will mean spotting a breaking news opportunity and getting a client into the national conversation before anyone else does. Other days, it could mean taking a complex technical or industry issue and finding the mainstream story within it.

What you'll do

- Translate complex client issues,

policy debates, sector challenges and access-to-services stories into mainstream consumer, lifestyle, current affairs, business and specialist media opportunities
- Lead and support day-to-day media relations and pitching across your client accounts
- Take full ownership of day-to-day management of your accounts, including scope, timelines, and budgets, as well as playing the role of strategic advisor to your clients
- Profile clients' leaders, executives, experts and spokespeople as credible thought leaders, securing opportunities in key business and trade media
- Develop angles that connect specialist expertise with wider business, social and consumer conversations
- Source and pitch case studies where they strengthen a story
- Write compelling pitches, newsjacking comments, media commentary and story angles, with our in-house writing team on hand to support longer-form content
- Build and maintain strong relationships with journalists and media contacts
- Keep a close eye on client happiness and media coverage KPIs
- Prioritise and problem-solve independently across multiple concurrent accounts, looping in the wider team or escalating when required, while still maintaining ownership of the outcome
- Collaborate with the wider Pure team, including writers, other publicists and account leads working across your accounts, to keep campaigns moving

About you

- Based in Australia - not negotiable

- Minimum 8 years' experience in PR or communications, with PR agency experience essential
- A proactive, fast-moving operator who takes ownership and drives results without needing to be chased
- Excellent media instincts and a strong understanding of what makes a story, with robust newsjacking capability
- A strong track record of securing quality earned media coverage across mainstream media as well as business and relevant specialist publications, such as health media
- The ability to take complex or sector-specific subject matter and make it accessible and interesting
- Strong journalist relationships and the confidence to build new ones
- Excellent account management capability and strong commercial and client judgement
- Strong organisation and an ability to work across multiple concurrent accounts with calmness under pressure
- Comfort working with standard remote collaboration tools such as Asana, Google Drive, Slack and Zoom, or the ability to pick them up quickly

What you'll get

- A fully remote, flexible working environment with a senior team that works across Australia
- A results-guaranteed, no-timesheet culture focused on outcomes, not hours
- Direct access to and mentorship from an all-senior team
- The opportunity to work with purpose-driven organisations, charities and industry experts
- A high-performing, genuinely supportive culture, recognised as one of Australia’s Best Places to Work by The Australian in 2026.
