This is an opportunity for an experienced Project Manager to take genuine ownership of projects from the moment they are handed over by Sales through to procurement, logistics, installation, commissioning, and final handover to the after‑sales team.

About the Role

An exciting opportunity has become available for an experienced Project Manager to join Waste Initiatives’ Operations team in Singleton to take ownership of a diverse portfolio of projects from start to finish.

Reporting to the Operations Manager, you’ll play a central role in bringing customer projects to life — taking each project from Sales handover through procurement, supplier coordination, logistics, installation and commissioning, right through to handover with the after sales support team.

What makes this role particularly appealing is the variety and level of ownership. You’ll manage projects ranging from approximately $70,000 through to $3 million, with the opportunity to work across different customers, equipment, suppliers and project requirements. With around 20–25 projects running at any one time, no two days will look exactly the same.

Many projects sit in the $150,000–$450,000 range, while larger projects can involve multiple pieces of specialised equipment, international suppliers, subcontractors and installation requirements across different locations.

You’ll be the person bringing all the moving parts together — working closely with customers, Sales, Operations, Procurement, international equipment manufacturers, logistics and freight providers, electricians, crane companies and Waste Initiatives’ own service technicians to keep projects moving and ensure customers receive the right outcome.

This is a role where you’ll have genuine influence over the success of each project. You’ll be trusted to identify risks early, solve problems, manage commercial outcomes, keep stakeholders informed and make sure commitments are delivered.

While the role is primarily office‑based, you’ll also have the opportunity for occasional site visits, giving you visibility across the projects you’re managing and the satisfaction of seeing your work come together in the field.

How the Project Works





Sales → Customer Purchase Order → Procurement & Supplier Coordination → International Freight → Australian Logistics → Installation → Commissioning → Customer Handover → After‑Sales Customer Care

The Sales team develops the initial concept, works with the in‑house engineer to create the design, once the Purchase Order is received, the Project Manager takes ownership from there.

You’ll review the project scope and drawings, place purchase orders with suppliers, coordinate manufacturing and inspections, manage international freight and logistics, and ensure everything is ready for installation.

Once the equipment arrives in Australia, you’ll coordinate the various parties required to complete the project, which may include crane companies, electricians, Waste Initiatives service technicians and other subcontractors.

Once the equipment has been installed, commissioned and signed off, the project is handed over to the Customer Service team for ongoing servicing and spare parts support.

What You’ll Be Responsible ForEnd-to-End Project Management

- Take ownership of projects from Sales handover through to completion
- Plan, schedule and coordinate projects from initiation through to final handover
- Manage multiple projects and competing priorities simultaneously
- Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope and to specification
- Coordinate all activities required to move projects through to successful completion
- Maintain transparent project plans, timelines and documentation
- Ensure projects are properly closed out and handed over to the after‑sales team
- Place purchase orders with international suppliers
- Coordinate with suppliers across different countries and time zones
- Monitor manufacturing and equipment delivery timelines
- Coordinate pre-shipment inspections where required
- Review equipment specifications and drawings before orders are placed
- Ensure the correct equipment is ordered in line with the agreed customer requirements
- Coordinate multiple suppliers where projects involve equipment from different manufacturers
- Coordinate international and domestic logistics activities
- Work closely with internal logistics resources to manage incoming equipment
- Coordinate freight and delivery schedules across Australia
- Arrange crane companies, electricians, technicians and other subcontractors
- Coordinate installation activities at customer sites
- Ensure equipment is installed, commissioned and operational as required
- Identify potential integration or delivery risks early and take action to resolve them
- Act as the primary point of contact for customers throughout project delivery
- Provide regular and proactive project updates
- Manage customer expectations around timelines, costs and delivery
- Resolve project issues quickly and professionally
- Build strong working relationships with customer decision‑makers
- Communicate with a wide range of stakeholders, from state and site managers through to owners of smaller businesses
- Work closely with Sales, Operations, Procurement and Customer Service to ensure a seamless customer experience

About You





You are an experienced Project Manager who enjoys taking ownership and seeing a project through from beginning to end.

You're highly organised, commercially aware and confident dealing with customers, suppliers and internal stakeholders.

You don't need to know the waste industry or waste equipment but a mechanical background is desirable. What's more important is that you've managed complex projects before, understand how to manage budgets and timelines, communicate confidently with customers and suppliers, and can coordinate multiple moving parts without losing sight of the end goal.

You’ll likely bring:

- Proven experience as a Project Manager managing projects from start to finish
- Experience managing multiple concurrent projects
- Strong project planning, coordination and organisational skills
- Sound commercial and budget management capability
- Experience managing project variations and scope changes
- Strong customer and stakeholder management skills
- Confidence working with suppliers and contractors
- Experience working with international suppliers or different time zones will be highly regarded
- Strong problem‑solving and decision‑making ability
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong attention to detail and documentation discipline
- The ability to monitor budgets, costs, timelines and project profitability
- A practical, solutions‑focused mindset
- The ability to work independently while collaborating closely with Sales, Operations and Procurement

Mechanical or Trade Background Highly Regarded

A mechanical, engineering, electrical, hydraulic or trade‑related background would be advantageous, particularly where it has been combined with subsequent project management experience.

However, this is not a role for a tradesperson looking to move into project management for the first time as project lifecycle experience is key. Experience in industries involving industrial equipment, engineering, manufacturing, mining, logistics, waste management, recycling, electrical, hydraulics, shutdowns, maintenance or large‑scale equipment installation will be highly regarded.
