About us
The Western Australian Alliance to End Homelessness (WAAEH) is an independent coalition of individuals and organisations committed to ending homelessness in Western Australia. Since 2016, WAAEH has brought together communities, service providers, government, business and philanthropic partners to drive collaborative, whole-of-community responses that prevent, reduce and ultimately end homelessness.
WAAEH is leading the implementation of a 10-year strategy to end homelessness in Western Australia, centred on five core focus areas and nine targets designed to deliver lasting systems change. The Alliance's strength lies in its collective impact approach, bringing together diverse partners around shared goals, evidence-informed action and sustainable solutions.
Working closely with the Australian Alliance to End Homelessness (AAEH) through auspicing and governance arrangements, WAAEH forms part of a national and international network committed to making homelessness rare, brief and non-recurring. Together, WAAEH and AAEH champion the belief that homelessness is both preventable and solvable.
A rare opportunity now exists for an experienced and influential leader to join WAAEH as Executive Director. Reporting to the CEO of AAEH and working strategically with the WAAEH Alliance Steering Committee, you will lead the implementation of WAAEH's strategic agenda, drive systems change initiatives and strengthen engagement across government, business, philanthropy and the community services sector. You will lead advocacy and fundraising efforts, support effective governance, and ensure WAAEH continues to inspire collective action and deliver meaningful progress towards ending homelessness in Western Australia.
The successful candidate will bring executive-level leadership experience, strong stakeholder networks, a track record of influencing policy and systems change, and the ability to build partnerships that create lasting impact.
What we offer:
- Excellent work-from-home flexibility
- Generous leave entitlements, including 5 weeks of annual leave
- Full-time preferred, with genuine consideration for 0.8 FTE for the right candidate
- Salary Packaging benefits up to $15,899 per annum
- Be a part of the national movement to end homelessness in Australia
About You:
You are a strategic, values-driven leader who can bring diverse stakeholders together to drive meaningful systems change. You thrive in collaborative environments and have a proven ability to influence,
align and mobilise partners around shared priorities and outcomes.
An exceptional communicator, you engage confidently with sector leaders, government, boards, funders and community partners alike. You know how to adapt your style to different audiences, building trust, credibility and solid working relationships.
You bring strong facilitation and stakeholder engagement skills, cultural competence, and a commitment to ensuring lived or living experience informs decision-making. You understand the principles of collective impact and systems change, and are experienced in leading through influence rather than direct service delivery.
Whether through existing networks or your ability to quickly build relationships, you can connect people, ideas and opportunities to advance collaborative action and help keep WAAEH focused on achieving its strategic priorities.
If that sounds like you, we'd love to hear from you.
Key responsibilities of the role are:
- Drive strategic focus and momentum across WAAEH's priority areas, aligning partners and stakeholders around the actions that will have the greatest impact on ending homelessness in Western Australia.
- Lead and facilitate collaborative action, bringing together government, community services, business, philanthropy and people with lived or living experience to advance shared solutions and systems change.
- Build and maintain influential relationships across sectors, identifying opportunities to strengthen partnerships, leverage resources and grow collective impact.
- Represent and advocate for WAAEH with senior government leaders, policy-makers, funders and sector stakeholders, influencing reform and investment to prevent and end homelessness.
- Ensure lived or living experience and diverse perspectives inform strategy and decision-making, with a strong commitment to cultural safety and meaningful engagement.
- Lead the Alliance's fundraising, governance, reporting and organisational stewardship, ensuring WAAEH remains sustainable, accountable and positioned for long-term impact.
The successful applicant will have:
- Proven executive leadership experience in complex, multi-stakeholder environments.
- Demonstrated success driving systems change and collective impact through influence, collaboration and partnership.
- Exceptional stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships across government, community services, business, philanthropy and lived or living experience leadership.
- Outstanding communication and facilitation skills, with the agility to engage audiences ranging from frontline stakeholders to CEOs, Boards, Ministers and senior government officials.
- Strong strategic judgement, with the ability to maintain focus on priorities that deliver meaningful, system-wide outcomes.
- Demonstrated experience delivering culturally responsive leadership, working alongside people with lived or living experience and a commitment to ensuring lived or living experience informs strategy, advocacy and systems reform.
- Experience in governance, organisational stewardship, fundraising and/or partnership development that supports sustainable impact.
- A strong commitment to ending homelessness and an understanding of the policy, government and community sector environments that influence system change.
- Tertiary qualifications in service design, social policy or a related discipline.
Direct experience working in the homelessness sector or an understanding of housing policy and homelessness services in WA with exposure in international best practices in ending homelessness would be an advantage.
You must also have a current National Police Clearance or be willing to obtain one. Some intra and interstate travel will be required.
