About the role

We is seeking a Sliding Door Repair Trainee to join our team at our Mermaid Waters location in Queensland. This is a casual position with a 3 month trial which will lead to full time employment at the end of the trial period for the right candidate.

You will work alongside experienced professionals who will guide you through the fundamentals of diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining sliding door systems for residential and commercial clients. This role is pivotal in supporting our service delivery and building a pipeline of skilled tradespeople within our growing business.

What you'll be doing

- Assisting experienced technicians with the diagnosis and repair of sliding door systems, including glass, aluminum, and track components

- Learning to identify common faults such as misalignment, wear and tear, and mechanical failures

- Performing basic maintenance tasks including cleaning, lubricating, and adjusting sliding door mechanisms

- Safely handling tools and equipment under supervision, following all health and safety protocols

- Supporting the removal and installation of sliding door components as directed

- Maintaining accurate records of repairs and service work completed

- Communicating professionally with clients and addressing their queries regarding door repairs

- Contributing to the cleanliness and organisation of the workplace and service vehicles

What we're looking for

- A long term employee that has a keen interest in building trades and hands-on work, with a willingness to learn new skills





- Strong problem solving skills, not afraid to back yourself and be confident in your own ability to take charge and resolve an issue.

- Physical fitness and the ability to work in various environments, including heights and confined spaces where required

- Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions carefully

- Good communication skills and a professional, courteous approach to customer service

- A valid driver's licence.

- The ability to work both independently and as part of a team

- A commitment to health and safety practices on job sites

- Any experience in door or security screen repairs would be helpful, but is not essential as we offer full training & support.

- Ability to apply for a Blue card (working with children) and police check

Starting as a casual employee, you will be given a minimum of 30 hours a week. After the trial period you will be offered full time employment working a 38 hour week. Our future goal will be for you to work on you own with a fully serviced van.
