Job Description

The Electrical Technician / Winder is responsible for the inspection, diagnosis, repair, rewinding, assembly and testing of electrical rotating equipment and associated coils. The role supports Arcolec’s industrial and marine customers through quality workshop workmanship, safe on-site service and accurate technical records.

Key Responsibilities

Key Duties
Prepare and follow JSAs, SWMSs, WHS requirements and site procedures.
Inspect, diagnose, repair and test AC/DC motors, alternators, generators, transformers and associated electrical equipment.
Perform in office equipment removal, installation, testing and commissioning.
Complete winding records, test results, timesheets and quality documentation.
Maintain tools, testing equipment and work areas.

Motor Rewinding
Disassemble and inspect single-phase, three-phase and DC motors.
Record winding data, including slots, coil pitch, turns and wire size.
Remove damaged windings and insulation.
Rewind stators, armatures and field coils to specification.
Varnish, bake and cure windings.




Inspect and service commutators, brushes, bearings, seals and cooling components.
Reassemble and perform required electrical and operational testing.

Alternators, Generators and Transformers
Inspect, disassemble and rewind stator, rotor and transformer windings.
Replace insulation systems and slot liners.
Test excitation circuits, output windings, insulation resistance and transformer ratios.
Rewind and test contactor, relay, solenoid and instrument coils.
Complete final assembly, alignment, testing and quality inspection.

Strong fault-finding, mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
Commitment to secure work, quality workmanship and accurate documentation.
Ability to work independently and contribute positively within a workshop team.
Clear communication and skilled conduct when dealing with customers and site personnel.
Ability to plan work, meet agreed timeframes and raise technical or safety concerns promptly.
