Our North Eastern suburbs ( Melbourne ) Council is seeking a Senior Integrated Communications Advisor to join its communications team on a temporary basis. This Band 7 role offers the chance to lead strategic communication initiatives across a diverse local government organisation, managing multiple campaigns and stakeholder engagement efforts simultaneously. You'll work across internal and external channels, from digital newsletters and social media to community consultation and media relations, ensuring consistent messaging that supports the Council's broader strategic objectives.
Develop and deliver integrated communication campaigns from strategy through to launch, managing complex stakeholder engagement across multiple channels
Lead media and reputation management, including proactive media approaches, speech writing, and response to media enquiries
Provide specialist communications guidance to Council staff and leadership, with expertise in community consultation and issues management

Preferred Requirements




Proven track record managing multiple communication projects simultaneously and delivering outcomes on deadline
Demonstrated ability to prepare effective written communications for diverse stakeholder groups across various channels including web, social media, direct mail, and print
Robust experience developing and implementing integrated communication strategies that achieve measurable stakeholder engagement
Solid background in media and reputation management, including handling complex media issues and developing proactive media strategies
Experience designing and delivering internal communications campaigns, and providing advice on community consultation and issues management

Preferred Qualifications
Degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or a related discipline
Skilled qualification or certification in communications, public relations, or a related field
Experience working in local government, public sector, or regulated environments
