An innovative technology business working at the intersection of software, electronics, and hardware integration is seeking a Mid-Level Mechatronics Engineer to join their growing team.

This role is ideal for an engineer with a solid software/firmware background and a solid mechatronics foundation, who is looking to work on advanced robotics and automation systems, primarily within the semiconductor industry, with exposure to biomedical applications. You will play a key role in developing, integrating, and optimising software-driven hardware systems, working closely with cross-functional engineering teams.

The position is Sydney based and for interstate candidates, relocation to Sydney is required.

Key Responsibilities
Develop and maintain software and firmware for integrated mechatronic systems
Integrate existing software and customer hardware into larger automation platforms
Work closely with mechanical engineers on motion systems, motor control, and system design
Lead and contribute to system integration across electrical, software, and mechanical domains
Support and deliver robotics, automation, and production line equipment projects
Contribute to software development using Python, with opportunities to work with LabVIEW and PLCs




Troubleshoot and optimise system performance across hardware and software layers

Requirements
Degree in Mechatronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline
3–5 years of experience in software/firmware development within a mechatronics or embedded systems environment
Strong programming experience (e.g. Python, C/C++, or similar)
Experience working with embedded systems, hardware integration, or automation systems
Solid understanding of electronics and control systems, with some mechanical exposure
Experience with LabVIEW, PLCs, or industrial automation is advantageous
Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary engineering setting
