Working as part of a professional vessel crew, the MED1 will be responsible for supporting the safe and efficient operation, maintenance and monitoring of the vessel's machinery and engineering systems.
Key responsibilities
Operating and monitoring the Yanmar 1,370 kW main engine, generators and associated machinery
Carrying out routine engine room inspections and machinery checks
Performing preventative maintenance and general mechanical repairs
Identifying and reporting mechanical issues and equipment faults
Maintaining accurate engine room logs and records
Assisting with repairs and maintenance throughout the vessel
Supporting fishing operations and ensuring machinery is ready for use
Assisting with vessel unloads and general operational duties when required
Maintaining a clean, protected and organised engine room
Complying with all vessel safety, environmental and operational procedures
Working closely with the Skipper and deck crew to ensure safe and effective vessel operations
About you
Qualified as a Marine Engine Driver Grade 1 (MED1)
Experienced in commercial marine operations, preferably on fishing vessels
Reliable, practical and mechanically minded
Safety-conscious with a strong understanding of marine engineering procedures
Comfortable working independently and as part of a close-knit crew
Professional, hardworking and willing to assist across vessel operations
Able to work away from home for multi-day fishing trips
