Sargeant Transport is seeking an experienced Heavy Vehicle Technician to join our Ballarat workshop.

This is a hands-on role responsible for servicing, diagnosing and repairing trucks and trailers across our fleet. You’ll work with a range of leading vehicle brands while helping maintain high standards of safety, reliability and compliance.

The Role

Reporting to the Ballarat Workshop Supervisor, your responsibilities will include:
Completing scheduled servicing, repairs and preventative maintenance
Diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic faults
Undertaking major repairs on trucks and trailers
Carrying out vehicle inspections in line with manufacturer requirements
Ensuring all work complies with NHVR and workplace safety standards
Accurately completing job cards, service records and safety documentation




Using diagnostic equipment and technical resources to identify faults
Helping improve repair processes and minimise vehicle downtime
Maintaining a clean, safe and organised workshop

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:
Certificate III qualification as a Heavy Vehicle Technician or equivalent
Experience servicing and repairing trucks and trailers in a fleet environment
Experience working with brands such as Kenworth, Mercedes-Benz, Freightliner, Volvo and Mack
Strong mechanical and diagnostic skills
Basic electrical fault-finding and welding experience
A sound understanding of WHS and safe workshop practices
Solid communication skills and attention to detail
The ability to accurately complete job cards and service records
A current HR or HC driver’s licence will be highly regarded

This is a physically active position that requires manual handling and heavy lifting.
