ABOUT US
Universal Exchange is a busy currency exchange and international money transfer shop in Auburn. Our customers are travellers, families sending money home, and local businesses from right across our community. We are a small,
close team where everyone is trusted with real responsibility from day one.
THE ROLE
You are the face of the shop. You serve customers at the counter, handle cash and foreign currency accurately, and keep our records and workspace in order.
Full training is provided on our systems and on exchange rates - what we cannot train is care, honesty and attention to detail.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Serve walk-in customers and handle currency exchange transactions
Count, check and balance cash accurately, in several currencies
Process international money transfers and complete customer ID checks
Enter every transaction into our computer system correctly
Balance the till and help with end-of-day close
Keep the counter, back office and stock organised, clean and presentable
Answer phone and counter enquiries about rates and services
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Confident and accurate with numbers and cash handling
Comfortable with computers - you can learn new software quickly and type
accurately (we will train you on our system)
Well presented and skilled - you are the first thing customers see
Naturally organised, with a tidy workspace and a system for everything
Honest and reliable - you will be trusted with significant amounts of cash
Calm and polite under pressure, including at busy times
Good spoken English
Available across our trading week, Monday to Saturday
NICE TO HAVE (not essential - we will train you)
A second language is an advantage with our customer base
Retail, banking, cashier or customer service experience
Experience with foreign currency, remittance or AUSTRAC/AML requirements

IMPORTANT This role involves handling cash and customer identity documents. The successful applicant must provide 100 points of ID and consent to a police check. You must have the right to work in Australia.
