Mechanical Technician - Vehicles & Equipment

An established organisation in the Newcastle region is looking to recruit a qualified Heavy Vehicle / Diesel Mechanic to join its technical services team in a permanent, full time position.

This is a great prospect for an experienced mechanic who enjoys hands-on fault finding and problem solving and would like to work across a varied range of vehicles and equipment rather than conventional fleet servicing.
The position offers excellent long-term stability, ongoing technical training and the chance to broaden your skills across mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electronically controlled systems.

The Role Working within an experienced technical team, your responsibilities will include:
Planned and preventative maintenance
Mechanical servicing and repairs
Mechanical fault finding and diagnostics
Troubleshooting hydraulic and pneumatic systems
Repair and replacement of mechanical components
Inspection and testing of vehicles and equipment
Reading and interpreting technical drawings, schematics and service information
Exposure to electrical and electronically controlled systems

Completing maintenance and service documentation
Ensuring equipment is maintained to a high standard of safety and reliability
Working both independently and alongside other technical specialists

The equipment is varied and technically interesting, so the role would particularly suit someone who enjoys investigating faults and understanding how different mechanical and control systems interact, rather than simply carrying out routine servicing.
About You To be considered, you will ideally have:
Australian-recognised Heavy Vehicle Mechanic / Diesel Mechanic trade qualification
Experience maintaining and repairing heavy vehicles, mobile equipment or similar machinery
Strong mechanical fault-finding skills
Experience working with hydraulic and pneumatic systems
Ability to interpret technical drawings and schematics
Exposure to vehicle electrical systems would be advantageous
Good computer literacy
Unrestricted driver's licence
Strong commitment to safety and quality
Ability to work independently and as part of a small technical team
