We collect and process scrap metal, supplying recycled materials to domestic and international industries for use in new products.We are committed to building long-term customer relationships, delivering reliable service and supporting a more sustainable future.About the roleWe are seeking a reliable, friendly and detail-oriented Cashier to join our busy scrap metal yard.This is a hands-on customer service and administrative position in a fast-paced industrial environment.
You will be responsible for assisting customers, processing scrap metal purchase transactions, preparing Recipient Created Tax Invoices (RCTIs), handling payments and maintaining accurate records.You will work closely with customers, weighbridge operators and yard staff to help ensure transactions are processed efficiently and the daily operations of the yard run smoothly.Key ResponsibilitiesWelcome customers and provide friendly, efficient serviceProcess scrap metal purchase transactions and customer paymentsPrepare and issue accurate Recipient Created Tax Invoices (RCTIs)Verify customer and supplier details, including identification, ABNs and GST registrationAccurately record material descriptions, weights, rates, GST and payment totalsEnter customer, vehicle and transaction information into the company systemPrepare purchase dockets, receipts and supporting documentsHandle cash and electronic payments accurately and securelyBalance the cash register and reconcile daily transactionsMaintain accurate RCTI,



payment and customer recordsAnswer telephone calls and respond to customer enquiriesCommunicate with yard staff regarding customer loads and material typesMaintain an organised cashier office and filing systemAssist with general administrative duties as requiredFollow company procedures, workplace health and safety requirements, and applicable scrap metal record-keeping obligationsAbout youPrevious experience in a cashier, customer service, accounts or administrative roleExperience with using MYOB Advanced (preferable)Strong cash-handling, numerical and reconciliation skillsGood computer and data-entry skillsExcellent attention to detail and accuracyClear and professional communication skillsA friendly and helpful approach to customer serviceThe ability to remain calm and organised during busy periodsReliability, punctuality and a solid work ethicThe ability to work effectively as part of a teamA commitment to workplace health and safetyThe ability to work comfortably in an industrial scrap yard environmentExperience preparing RCTIs, tax invoices or similar financial documents will be highly regarded.
Knowledge of GST and ABN requirements, or previous experience in the scrap metal, recycling, transport, construction or waste industry, would be an advantage but is not essential.
