About the job | Merchandise Planner - Women's Fashion

An exciting opportunity has become available for an analytical and commercially minded Merchandise Planner to join a thriving women's fashion retailer based on Sydney's Northern Beaches.
Operating across both eCommerce and retail, this customer-led business has built a highly engaged following through its accessible, effortless approach to women's fashion.
As the brand continues to grow, you'll play a key role in ensuring the right stock is available at the right time maximising sales, protecting margin and supporting smarter inventory decisions.
Working closely with the Buying and Merchandise teams, you'll gain exposure across forecasting, Open-to-Buy management, stock optimisation, reporting and in-season trading.
This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced Allocator, Assistant Planner or developing Merchandise Planner ready to take greater ownership of a category.
Key responsibilities
Analyse weekly sales, stock and margin performance to identify emerging trends, risks and commercial opportunities
Forecast demand for core, repeat and seasonal styles in line with Open-to-Buy budgets and inventory targets
Manage stock levels and intake to maximise availability while minimising excess inventory and markdown exposure
Monitor product performance and recommend actions across replenishment, allocation, promotions and markdowns
Prepare weekly and monthly trade reports, translating data into clear and actionable recommendations
Track key performance indicators, including sales, sell-through, stock turn, gross margin and inventory productivity
Partner closely with the Buying team to build balanced assortments and optimise the product mix across categories
Support the planning and execution of promotional, markdown and clearance strategies
Maintain accurate planning data across systems, reports and inventory management tools
Complete ad hoc analysis to support trading decisions and broader business initiatives
About you
You're highly analytical, naturally curious and confident turning numbers into meaningful commercial decisions.
You enjoy working at pace, taking ownership and collaborating with others to achieve strong results.
You will ideally bring:
One to three years' experience in merchandise planning, allocation, inventory management or a similar analytical retail role
Solid numerical, analytical and problem-solving capabilities
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables, formulas and large-data analysis
An understanding of retail performance metrics, including sales, margin, sell-through and stock turn
Exceptional attention to detail and confidence working with complex dataStrong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities
Clear communication skills and the ability to translate analysis into practical recommendations
A proactive, collaborative approach and genuine interest in women's fashion
Tertiary qualifications in Business, Commerce, Retail Management or a related discipline will be highly regarded
