We are looking for a compassionate, open-minded and non-judgmental Support Worker who can build a genuine connection with a participant and provide support that is respectful of their values, beliefs, relationships and lifestyle.
The Opportunity
We are seeking afemale Community Support Workerwho is LGBTQIA+ affirming and comfortable supporting a participant with a diverse range of interests, beliefs and relationship structures.
The participant is looking for someone who is:
Open-minded, accepting and genuinely non-judgmental
LGBTQIA+ affirming and respectful of diverse identities
Respectful of polyamorous relationships and different relationship structures
Comfortable with diverse spiritual beliefs and practices, including tarot
Patient, empathetic, calm and emotionally grounded
A positive listener who takes the time to understand the person they are supporting
Supportive of autonomy, independence and personal choice
Comfortable discussing personal or difficult topics appropriately
Able to remain calm and reassuring when the participant becomes overwhelmed
Reliable and consistent in maintaining a trusting support relationship
A male Support Worker may also be considered if an excellent match is identified, particularly where the applicant has strong alignment with the participant's values, interests and support needs.
Shift Details
Location:Cambridge Park, NSW
Recurring Supports:
Friday (Fortnightly):4-hour shift from1:00 PM onwards, commencing from 14 August
Thursday (Fortnightly):4-hour transport and community access shift commencing12:00 PM- Cambridge Park to Springwood
Wednesday (Monthly):3-4-hour transport support - Cambridge Park to Katoomba and return
Preference will be given to applicants who can commit to multiple or all recurring shifts, helping provide consistency, familiarity and continuity of support.
About the Participant
You will be supporting a30-year-old gender-diverse participantwho values authenticity, creativity, independence, inclusivity and being accepted for who they are.




The participant appreciates having a Support Worker who is willing to get to know them as an individual and who can engage with their interests rather than approaching support in a purely task-focused way.
The participant has formal diagnoses including:
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD)
Complex Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (C-PTSD)
Major Depressive Disorder (MDD)
Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD)
Sensory Processing Disorder (SPD)
Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS)
History of an eating disorder, including anorexia nervosa
The participant is independently mobile and does not require manual handling, feeding assistance or mobility equipment.
There are no reported behaviours of concern or high-care physical support requirements.
Due to chronic fatigue, supports should be paced appropriately and should not be approached as highly fitness-focused activities.
The emphasis is oncomfortable, meaningful participation and community access.

What You'll Be Doing
As the Support Worker, you will:
Facilitate meaningful community access and social participation.
Provide safe transport to appointments and community activities.




Support participation in activities aligned with the participant's interests and preferences.
Build a trusting, respectful and authentic support relationship.
Encourage independence without being overly directive or controlling.
Respect the participant's choices, values, beliefs, relationships and lifestyle.
Provide support using a trauma-informed, neuroaffirming and person-centred approach.
Listen actively and take the time to understand the participant as an individual.
Remain calm and supportive when the participant feels overwhelmed.
Support appropriate conversations around personal or difficult topics with empathy and professional boundaries.
Respect different relationship structures, including polyamorous relationships.
Maintain appropriate confidentiality, dignity and professional boundaries.
Maintain accurate progress notes and documentation.
Promote emotional wellbeing through consistent, respectful and empowering support.

Highly Regarded

Female Support Worker, in line with the participant's preference
LGBTQIA+ identifying or a strong LGBTQIA+ ally
Experience supporting gender-diverse or LGBTQIA+ participants
Experience working with autistic or neurodivergent people
Experience with psychosocial disability
Trauma-informed support experience
Interest in gaming, D&D;, anime, manga or fantasy
Interest in arts and crafts
Interest in animals, pale
