About the role
Monitoring treatment processes and plant performance
Responding to alarms and abnormal conditions
Undertaking sampling and basic laboratory testing
Maintaining pumps, pipelines, valves and associated equipment
Keeping accurate operational and maintenance records
First line maintenance of the town's water, wastewater and splash park infrastructure day to day
What we're looking for include;
Certificate III in Water Industry Operations, Water Treatment Operations or Wastewater Treatment Operations (or equivalent) — or willingness and ability to obtain this within a Council-determined timeframe
Gas chlorine handling competency, or willingness to obtain
Practical experience operating and monitoring water treatment, wastewater or similar process systems
Sound knowledge of water and wastewater treatment processes and equipment, including pumps, electric motors, pipelines, valves and related process equipment
Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) competency, or willingness to obtain
Confined Space Entry competency, or willingness and ability to obtain
Current General Construction Induction Card (White Card)
Current National Criminal History Check, or willingness to obtain one
Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and the ability to communicate sensitively, respectfully and effectively with members of the Aboriginal community.
