About you
n
n
You're passionate about creating freedom and social connection for people with disability.
n
You value mutual respect, empathy and collaboration.
n
You have tertiary qualifications and/or experience in any of the following: psychology, ABA, speech therapy, occupational therapy, counselling, criminology, disability, education, mental health, music therapy, psychotherapy, special education, social work, sociology or related fields.
n

You will also need:
n
n
a privately insured vehicle and a valid driver's licence;
n
an NDIS Worker Screening Check;
n
Working with Children Check;
n
ABN;
n
Professional indemnity and public liability insurance.

About your recent role
n
n
Meet with NDIS participants to gain an empathetic understanding of their goals, wants and needs.
n
Collaborate with their support teams including families, schools, medical and allied health providers, accommodation providers and support workers.
n
Gather data through assessments,
observations and interviews.
n
Write and implement behaviour support plans, providing training and coaching to NDIS participants and the important people in their life.
n
Choose your clients; we support participants of all ages, with diverse disabilities and needs.
n
Enhance your skills with training, covering positive behaviour support, human rights, trauma, restrictive practices, safety, telePBS, functions and formulations and more.
n
Elevate your clinical practice through weekly 1-1s with your mentor, optional peer supervision sessions, fortnightly live training sessions and self-paced online learning.
n
Receive professional guidance as you meet the registration requirements as a Behaviour Support Practitioner with the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission.
n
As a contractor, you'll have the opportunity to work from home at a time that suits you.
n
Support clients in-person and/or through telepractice.
n
n
What does a day in the life of a PBS practitioner look like?
n
No day is ever the same! One morning you could be out on the road, delivering support with clients and in the afternoon carrying out observations of a client at their day program, group home or school. Another day might involve working from home, providing support by videoconference, writing up Behaviour Support Plans and completing clinical notes.
