Technical Support Engineer - Instrumentation
Technical Project Assistant – Job Description (NSW)
Overview
This role supports internal technical operations by managing incoming project enquiries, preparing technical specifications, and coordinating instrumentation‐related documentation.
The position exists to reduce workload on external Sales Engineers and Field Service Engineers by handling the technical and administrative components of project preparation before work is passed to the field.
The role requires strong technical capability, excellent documentation skills, and experience working with industrial instrumentation used in water & wastewater treatment and mining environments.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Specification & Product Support
Prepare detailed technical specifications forlevel, pressure, point level, radar, and sensor‐based instrumentation.
InterpretP&IDs;, datasheets, tank drawings, process conditions, and customer requirements to recommend correct instrumentation solutions.
Provide internal technical support to sales and field engineering teams.
Assist with product selection forwater utilities, wastewater treatment plants, pump stations, mining operations, and general industrial processing.
Review incoming enquiries and convert them into accurate technical documentation, configuration details, and quotation inputs.
Project Coordination
Coordinate technical project workflows from initial enquiry through to delivery.
Manage documentation, specifications, project files,
and communication with internal stakeholders.
Track project progress, follow up outstanding actions, and ensure deadlines are met.
Liaise with overseas manufacturing teams regarding product configuration, technical clarifications, and lead times.
Support internal sales with technical information, pricing, and product configuration.
Prepare customer‐ready documentation, proposals, and specification packs.
Respond to technical queries from water authorities, councils, mining companies, EPCs, integrators, and contractors.
Administration & Process Support
Maintain CRM records, project logs, and technical documentation libraries.
Assist with order processing, product coding, and technical data entry.
Ensure all technical documentation is accurate, complete, and compliant with internal standards.
Required Qualifications & Experience
Diploma/Degree or trade qualification inInstrumentation, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or similar.
3–5 years' experiencein technical project coordination, internal sales engineering, or instrumentation specification.
Solid understanding ofindustrial instrumentation, ideally including level and pressure measurement technologies.
Experience supportingwater & wastewaterorminingindustries.
Ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics, and process documentation.
Strong communication skills and confidence dealing with technical stakeholders.
High attention to detail and strong administrative capability.
