Current Group
Melbourne
Current Group is a Melbourne-based electrical contractor delivering commercial construction projects across theTier 3 market.
We've been operating for over 20 years and have built our reputation by taking on challenging projects, solving problems and delivering quality electrical installations.
We're big enough to deliver serious projects, but small enough that you won't become employee number 427.
You'll work directly with the directors, estimators, supervisors and site teams and have a genuine say in how your projects are delivered.
THE ROLE
As an Electrical Project Manager, you'll take responsibility for your projects fromhandover through to completion.
You'll be responsible for:
Managing multiple commercial electrical projects
Reviewing budgets, estimates, scope and contractual requirements
Developing and maintaining project programmes
Managing procurement and long-lead items
Managing supervisors, electricians, apprentices and subcontractors
Maintaining strong relationships with builders, consultants and clients
Managing RFIs, variations, EOTs and project correspondence
Preparing and reviewing monthly progress claims
Tracking labour, materials and project costs against budget
Attending site and project meetings
Identifying issues early —before they become expensive problems
Managing commissioning, defects, handover and project close-out
Ensuring projects are delivered safely, professionally and profitably
WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR
Ideally, you've come through the electrical industry and understand how projects actually get built.
You might already be an Electrical Project Manager, or you could be an experienced Project Coordinator, Contracts Administrator or Site Manager who's ready to take the next step.
More importantly, we're looking for someone who:
Takesownershipinstead of making excuses
Communicates clearly and consistently
Understands commercial electrical construction
Can read drawings, specifications and contracts
Understands labour and knows the difference betweenbeing busy and being productive
Is commercially minded and understands that a successful project needs to make money
Can build robust relationships with builders without being afraid to have difficult conversations
Supports their supervisors and site teams
Is organised and stays ahead of procurement, variations and programme
Doesn't need to be chased to get things done
Wants to improve themselves and the people around them
WHAT WE DON'T WANT
If your idea of project management is sitting behind a laptop waiting for someone to tell you there's a problem, this probably isn't the role for you.
If every problem is someone else's fault, this definitely isn't the role for you.
And if you're chasing a job purely because you want to say you work on the"big builds", there are plenty of Tier 1 contractors who can offer you that.
We're interested in deliveringgood projects with good people.
WHAT YOU'LL GET
You'll be joining a growing electrical business where you'll have genuine responsibility and the opportunity to influence how we operate.
You'll have:
Direct access to the company directors
Autonomy to manage your projects
Support from estimating, administration and site teams
A variety of commercial projects across Melbourne
Opportunities to develop your commercial and management skills
A business that invests heavily in systems, technology and improving the way electrical projects are delivered
A long-term position with room to grow as Current Group continues to grow
