Play a central role in modernising spatial data pipelines, enhancing accessibility, and translating complex environmental and scientific data into fit-for-purpose Government solutions.
What's on Offer
Contract/Engagement: Initial 12-month contract + extension options
Location & Flexibility: Canberra, ACT (Hybrid: up to 3 days per week in-office with flexible working arrangements.
Role & Responsibilities
Data Pipeline Engineering: Design, develop, and maintain robust geospatial data pipelines, spatial databases, and automated integration solutions.
Spatial Data Management: Acquire, transform, validate, and curate complex spatial datasets to maintain rigorous standards of data quality and integrity.
Analytics & Application Support: Build, optimise, and support contemporary geospatial applications, mapping services, and spatial analytics tools.
Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with non-technical stakeholders and business leads to translate core requirements into tailored spatial information assets.
Governance & Standards: Apply strict data governance, security, privacy,
and data quality frameworks across geospatial platforms while providing expert technical advice.
Documentation & Delivery: Produce comprehensive technical documentation, system procedures, and artefacts to support ongoing capability and continuous improvement.
Skills & Experience
To be successful in this position, you will ideally bring:
Technical Toolkit: Demonstrated proficiency with contemporary geospatial platforms, spatial databases, GIS mapping services, ETL pipelines, and spatial analytics capabilities.
Experience: Proven track record in geospatial data engineering, spatial dataset management, and application development
Domain Experience (Desirable): Previous experience within Federal/State Government, regulatory, environmental, scientific, or natural resource management sectors.
Core Capabilities: Excellent stakeholder engagement and business analysis skills, with a robust focus on data governance, security, and quality assurance.
Eligibility & Clearance Requirements
Security Clearance: Candidates must be an Australian Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a Baseline security clearance (current clearance highly regarded).
