About the Opportunity

Our client, a prominent Australian Government agency dedicated to supporting people with disability, is seeking experiencedAPS6 Support Need Assessorsto join their team. This is a meaningful and impactful role where you will contribute to ensuring participants receive fair, high-quality, and person-centered assessments that inform critical support decisions.

Key Responsibilities
n
As an APS6 Support Need Assessor, you will:
n
n
Conduct detailed assessments by engaging with participants, their families, and representatives
n
Gather, analyse, and interpret complex information to produce accurate, evidence-based reports
n
Deliver clear, transparent communication across virtual and face-to-face interactions
n
Apply relevant policies, legislation, and ethical frameworks in all assessment activities
n
Adopt trauma-informed, culturally sensitive, and participant-centered approaches
n
Collaborate with internal teams to drive consistency, quality outcomes, and service improvements
n
Maintain accurate records and utilise digital systems effectively and securely
n
Adapt assessment approaches to meet diverse participant needs
n
Contribute to a positive team environment, including mentoring and knowledge sharing
n
n
About You
n
To be successful in this role, you will have:
n
n
A recognised tertiary qualification inAllied Health or related disciplines, such as:n
n
Occupational Therapy
n
Physiotherapy
n
Social Work
n
Nursing
n
Counselling (or similar)
n
n
Demonstrated experience in conductingsupport needs assessments
n
Strong commitment toperson-centered, strengths-based practice
n
Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
n
Well-developed analytical and decision-making capabilities
n
Sound knowledge ofdisability legislation, policy, and operational frameworks
n
Proven ability to work sensitively with diverse communities usinginclusive and trauma-informed practice
n
