Are you a qualified Maintenance Fitter looking for a hands-on role in a fast-paced manufacturing environment? We are seeking an experienced and motivated Maintenance Fitter to join our maintenance team based in Laverton. This is an excellent opportunity to work across a large food production facility, ensuring plant and equipment operate safely and efficiently while contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.

About the Role
n
Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, you will play a critical role in ensuring the reliability, efficiency and safety of our production equipment across the Laverton site. Working within a fast-paced food manufacturing environment, you will be responsible for both preventative and breakdown maintenance, ensuring production downtime is minimised and operational targets are achieved.
n This is a hands-on position suited to a mechanically minded tradesperson who enjoys fault-finding, problem-solving and working with a variety of automated processing equipment. You'll collaborate closely with production teams, electricians, contractors and site leadership to maintain equipment performance and drive continuous improvement across the facility

Key Responsibilities
n
n
Perform preventative and reactive maintenance on production equipment.
n
Troubleshoot and repair mechanical breakdowns in a timely manner.
n
Conduct safety inspections and equipment checks.
n
Support continuous improvement projects and equipment upgrades.
n
Maintain hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
n
Read and interpret technical drawings, manuals and specifications.
n
Complete maintenance records and schedules accurately.
n
Work collaboratively with production teams, electricians, contractors and site management.
n
Participate in the on-call breakdown roster as required.
n
Maintain compliance with all WHS, food safety, quality and environmental standards.
n

About You To be successful in this role, you will have:
n
n
Mechanical Trade Qualification (Fitter & Turner, Mechanical Fitter or equivalent).
n
Previous experience within a manufacturing, food processing or production environment.
n
Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
n
Experience working with hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
n
Ability to work autonomously and prioritise workloads.
n
Excellent communication skills and a team-focused approach.
n
Commitment to workplace safety and continuous improvement.
n
Forklift licence (advantageous).
n
Welding experience (MMAW/GTAW preferred).
n
