About the Role
n
We are looking for a hands-on Hardware Engineer to join our small team in Mulgrave.
n
This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to develop across hardware engineering. Working alongside an experienced Senior Hardware Engineer, you will receive day-to-day technical guidance and mentorship while becoming involved in the complete lifecycle of our hardware products — from concept and schematic design through to production testing, field support, and end-of-life planning.
n
From early in your time with us, you will be exposed to a broad range of technical challenges and given the chance to take on increasing responsibility as your skills and confidence grow.

Key Responsibilities
n
n
Schematic capture and multilayer PCB layout using Altium Designer.
n
Review analogue circuits (power supply, protection circuits,



and signal paths)
n
Assist with component selection and BOM management.
n
Learn and apply design for manufacture and design for test practices.
n
Prototype, hand assembly of SMD components, and bench characterisation.
n
Develop embedded firmware in C for ARM Cortex-M microcontrollers.
n
Work with peripheral drivers including I2C, SPI, UART, and GPIO.
n
Contribute to firmware unit test coverage.
n
Assist with hardware bring-up and debugging of Linux platform peripherals.
n
Investigate manufacturing test failures, yield issues, production test procedures.
n

Skills & Qualifications
n
Required
n
To be successful in this role, you will ideally bring:
n
n
A Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering or Mechatronics.
n
2–5 years' experience in hardware design or embedded firmware.
n
Foundational PCB design experience (Altium Designer or a comparable EDA tool)
n
Experience developing embedded firmware in C on microcontrollers.
n
Confidence using standard bench instruments.
n
A methodical approach to debugging (hypothesis, test, narrow down a fault)
n




Design for manufacture and design for test practices.
n
Embedded Linux skills and Python scripting skills.
n
Automotive or commercial vehicle electrical environments, including 12V/24V systems, transient protection.
n
Bus protocols such as J****/CAN, Modbus, I2C, SPI, or RS-485.
n
FPGA/CPLD design using VHDL or Verilog.
n
Version control using Git and structured issue tracking.
n

Comfortable working at a bench with a soldering iron and oscilloscope probe.

Eager to learn and open to mentorship.

Methodical, detail-oriented, and comfortable documenting your work.
