Job Description
Position
n
We are seeking an experienced General Manager of Operations to lead our facility in Spearwood, Western Australia. This is a senior leadership role with full operational and financial accountability, offering the opportunity to make a significant impact in a complex, fast‐paced logistics environment.
n
What you'll Do
n
As General Manager, you will have end-to-end responsibility for the strategic, operational, safety and financial performance of the Spearwood site. You will lead a diverse team, drive a strong safety and engagement culture, and deliver results through best‐practice operations and continuous improvement.
n
This role reports to the Director of Operations and plays a critical part in achieving Americold's commercial and customer objectives across the region.
n
Key Responsibilities
n
n
Full P&L; ownership, including budget development, financial analysis and profitability improvement
n
Lead and embed a strong safety-first culture, ensuring compliance with all safety, food quality and loss prevention standards
n
Provide visible, values‐led leadership aligned with Americold's Company Values
n
Drive operational excellence, productivity and service outcomes through continuous improvement initiatives
n
Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, unions and key internal stakeholders
n
Lead, coach and develop leadership and operational teams, focusing on capability, engagement and performance
n
Review and act on key performance indicators covering safety, service, financial and people outcomes
n
Partner with HR on workforce planning, labour strategies and talent development
n
Oversee capital expenditure, site performance metrics, customer contracts and service reviews
n
n
What Experience and Education You Need
n
n
6–10 years' senior leadership experience within logistics,
warehousing or distribution (retail or cold storage preferred)
n
Strong commercial and financial acumen, including proven P&L; management experience
n
Demonstrated success leading large, operational teams in a fast‐paced environment
n
Experience implementing continuous improvement and change management initiatives
n
Excellent communication, relationship‐building and stakeholder management skills
n
A collaborative, accountable leadership style with a strong customer focus
n
Solid understanding of Australian transport regulations, including Chain of Responsibility
n
Continuous Improvement certification (desired)
n
n
You will be a confident decision‐maker, a visible leader on the floor, and someone who thrives on accountability and delivering results through people.
