About the Role
n
This is a strategic, hands-on position responsible for leading and embedding WHS and injury management best practice across our operations in NSW, VIC and QLD.
n
As KARI's dedicated WHS & IM Specialist, you'll play a pivotal role in designing frameworks, guiding policy development, and fostering a safety-first culture that aligns with both legislative requirements and our deep cultural values.
n
You'll work closely with the CEO, KARI Executive, Managers and staff across all states, while also liaising with external partners to ensure best-in-class workplace safety and wellbeing outcomes.

This is a targeted Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander role.

Tasks and Responsibilities
n
n
Lead the development, implementation and monitoring of WHS and injury management frameworks
n
Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, codes of practice, and internal standards
n
Conduct investigations into incidents and support implementation of corrective actions
n
Manage early intervention, injury management and return-to-work processes
n
Deliver psychosocial risk assessments and coordinate controls
n
Provide regular WHS reporting, analysis and governance updates
n
Coordinate internal audits and continuous improvement initiatives
n
Develop and deliver WHS training and communications across the organisation
n
Maintain WHS systems in collaboration with leadership and external providers
n

Requirements
n
n
Current NSW Working with Children Check (Paid Worker)
n
National Criminal Record Check
n
Valid Australian Driver's Licence (minimum Provisional 2 or equivalent)
n
n
Skills and Experience
n
n
Tertiary qualifications in Work Health and Safety or a related field
n
Proven experience in WHS and injury management in a complex, multi-site organisation
n
Strong understanding of WHS legislation, risk management and compliance frameworks
n
Demonstrated ability to lead investigations and implement preventative strategies
n
Experience delivering WHS training and building safety capability across teams
n
Confident communicator with the ability to influence across all levels
n
Highly organised, self-driven, and capable of working autonomously
n
Ability to balance strategic oversight with hands-on implementation
