Job Description
A well-established and growing civil and heavy haulage business is looking for an experienced heavy haulage operator to take the reins of its transport operation. This is a genuine chance to step in, take ownership, and make your mark — you'll be the expert the business relies on, with real autonomy to shape how things run and bring your own ideas to the table.

About the role
n
Reporting directly to the Director and working alongside an office manager and allocator, you'll run the day-to-day movements for a fleet of ***** trucks and drivers across heavy haulage and oversize / overmass (OSOM) shifts, work both inbound and outbound, from northern NSW through to Rockhampton and across south-east and western Queensland.
n
Key responsibilities will include:
n
n
Planning, scheduling and coordinating heavy haulage and OSOM movements across multiple jobs;
n
Allocation of prime movers, trailers, drivers, escort vehicles and subcontractors;
n
Preparing NHVR, state authority and local council permit applications;
n
Developing route assessments, risk assessments and movement plans;
n
Monitoring live movements and resolving operational issues as they arise;
n
Preparation of accurate quotes and estimates for complex heavy haulage and OSOM jobs;
n
Coordinating traffic control, escort providers and regulatory requirements;
n
Ensuring compliance with the HVNL, Chain of Responsibility, fatigue management and WHS;
n
Maintaining operational records, permits and compliance documentation;
n
Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients and stakeholders.

What you'll bring
n
n
Proven experience coordinating heavy haulage / OSOM transport operations;
n
Solid working knowledge of NHVR permit systems, the HVNL and Chain of Responsibility;
n
A solid handle on oversize and overmass processes and heavy-vehicle regulation;
n
Understanding of prime movers, floats, dollies and trailer combinations;
n
Experience preparing quotes and estimates for heavy haulage movements;
n
The ability to remain calm under pressure and juggle competing priorities effaciously;
n
Excellent organisation, communication and client-relationship skills;
n
Current driver's licence.
