About the Role
The Senior Specialist Family Violence Practitioner – Rapid Response and After Hours is a vital member of the Family Violence team, providing high-quality specialist support to adult and child victim survivors experiencing family violence across the Bayside Peninsula region.
Working across both the Rapid Response and After-Hours programs, you will provide face-to-face and telephone-based support, including crisis intervention, risk assessment, safety planning, case management and coordinated referrals. You will work with victim survivors presenting with complex needs and play a critical role in promoting safety, stability and recovery.
This role combines outreach-based crisis responses with specialist family violence practice and requires a practitioner who can work independently, exercise sound professional judgement and apply contemporary family violence frameworks, including MARAM, to support women and children experiencing family violence.
This position is based onsite in the Bayside Peninsula region on Thursdays and Fridays from 2.00pm to 9.00pm, with home-based on-call and recall responsibilities from 9.00pm to 9.00am. Responses may be delivered across a variety of settings, including service delivery sites, motels, police stations, hospitals and other accommodation settings.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver specialist family violence responses to adult and child victim survivors
Undertake family violence risk and needs assessments using the MARAM framework
Develop safety plans and support clients to increase their immediate and ongoing safety
Provide crisis intervention, outreach support and case management through the Rapid Response and After-Hours programs
Deliver trauma-informed, client-centred support tailored to individual needs and circumstances
Support women, children and families experiencing complex issues, including mental health, substance use, disability and housing challenges
Coordinate referrals and access to internal and external support services
Provide secondary consultation and specialist family violence advice to internal and external stakeholders




Maintain accurate case notes, client records, reporting and data collection requirements
Build collaborative relationships with police, hospitals, accommodation providers and community service organisations
Participate in regular supervision, reflective practice and professional development activities
Contribute to a positive, high-performing and supportive team culture
About You
Tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology or a related discipline that meets Family Violence Minimum Mandatory Qualification requirements
Demonstrated experience undertaking MARAM family violence risk and needs assessments
Experience working with adult and child victim survivors of family violence
Strong understanding of the impacts of family violence and the ability to apply relevant theoretical frameworks to practice
Demonstrated ability to provide trauma-informed support to people with complex needs
Experience working with diverse communities and people experiencing multiple forms of disadvantage
Robust case management, crisis intervention and risk management skills
Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
Demonstrated ability to work autonomously while contributing effectively within a team environment
Experience maintaining accurate case records, reports and client databases
Experience in a senior practitioner or leadership role (highly desirable)
Experience working directly with children and young people as victim survivors in their own right (highly desirable)
